Job Description
The Sell team is looking for a Community and Event Marketing Manager who can help build a community of sales leaders through an energetic, exciting, and product-focused global event series. Over the past three years, Zendesk has built a strong event portfolio, including a global annual user conference—Zendesk Relate, a global event series—Zendesk Showcase, regional Zendesk Roadshows, and other localized events, attracting a community of customer engagement and support leaders. Now the Sell team is looking for a Community and Event Marketing Manager to build a community of sales leaders. The ideal candidate will have experience leading and producing an event series on both a smaller intimate scale (30-50 attendees) and as larger high-production (300-2000 attendees). At times you will also lend support to select industry conferences, cross-product Zendesk events, or other projects that are deemed corporate priorities. You will be the first and only member of our events team, managing an army of resources inside and outside Zendesk —event operations and logistics, agencies and contractors. You bring a proven track record of flawless event execution, marketing communication, and project management with a strong eye for detail and branding around attendee experiences. You must be willing to do it all—from negotiating, budgeting, marketing, to managing the logistics of an event —as we are a “get your hands dirty” organization. But don’t worry, you’ll have the full Zendesk Sell Marketing and Sales team supporting you!
Responsibilities:
- Create and implement the overall strategy and execution of the Sell Roadshow event series
- Leverage the existing events playbook to produce a Sell Roadshow series which targets and builds a sales leader community for Zendesk
- Partner with corporate creative and marketing, PR, AR, field, and product marketing to align key objectives, brand expression, messaging and positioning
- Project management of events including logistics, securing venues and exhibition space, travel, and development of creative concepts
- Collaborate with campaign and email teams to promote Sell events to a relevant audience
- Helping with the creation of event-focused sales engagement and enablement programs to ensure targeted audience recruitment
- Defining and executing internal and external event awareness and communication plan and associated deliverables
- Identify national or regional partners who can help promote and host events in the field
- Identify opportunities for Sell to partner with Zendesk’s broader field marketing team on Tier 3 regional events and industry specific events
- Coordinate events strategy to align with territory account executives pipeline targets
- Provide field marketing team with assets and ideas to promote Sell
- Oversee booth logistics and execution for industry event sponsorship opportunities
- Maintain budget to create a cost effective event series, measure the impact and ensure post-event follow-up
- Report on pre and post-event KPIs on an ongoing basis across all events in the series
- Ensure all event vendors are on-boarded into billing system and paid
- Partner with marketing ops and lifecycle marketing to have event leads properly tracked and converted
Required Skills:
- 3-5 years experience in event marketing
- multiple levels from Manager to Senior VP
- Strong project management and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple large scale projects in tandem
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills across a range of learner tenures from individual contributor to vice president
- High energy, charismatic, and innovative
- Proven creative thinker that independently generates and executes on innovative ideas for how to engage learners
- Strong sense of responsibility, initiative and design
- Solid oral and written communication skills
