About the Role
Do you have a passion for Product Marketing? Have experience in creating messaging through presentations, digital assets and datasheets that inspire enterprise buyers to want to know more about a solution? And ideally have worked with Application Performance Monitoring or other monitoring products? Then a role as a Director of Product Marketing at AppDynamics is for you! You will play a key role in driving outbound marketing activities that answer the ‘Why, How and What’ for our solution. The global marketing team will seek your knowledge in regards to APM and AIOps in order to help continue to drive our phenomenal growth. This will mean developing, executing and leading go-to-market activities that inspire and build demand in a highly exciting and competitive marketplace.
You will work closely with our global product marketing leader and a highly talented marketing team. As a thought leader, you’ll be a key point of contact for Corporate Marketing, Sales Enablement, Product Management and Customer Success teams.
About You:
- You’ll understand and have experience in Product Marketing and will have the track record to prove it.
- You are comfortable advising other functions in corporate marketing in how best to tell a solution story.
- Ideally you will have worked hands-on with an APM solution or at least other monitoring solutions in the past.
- You’ll enjoy spending time with customers and prospects, working with sales to learn about their challenges in order to improve positioning and messaging.
- You’ll have a clear point of view in regards to AIOps and how the APM market is evolving.
- You can articulate how application performance drives business performance .
- You understand today’s enterprise software stack - different languages, microservices, container technologies, orchestration tools and cloud platforms.
- You must enjoy putting together and delivering thought-provoking, quality content for IT audiences and be able to act on your own initiative.
- You must enjoy public speaking in front of large audiences.
- You are not afraid to state your point of view.
Responsibilities
- Develop compelling positioning and messaging focusing on APM, and the emerging area of AIOps, to our target personas and industries.
- Help drive product and corporate marketing activity, including putting your ideas forward in regards to events, digital, campaigns, customer references and sales enablement strategy.
- Work with sales and customer success to ensure a solution, rather than a pure feature based approach to messaging.
- Translate value propositions into impactful assets, including pitch decks, case studies, data sheets, videos, demos, website and whitepapers.
- Partner with demand generation teams on development of campaigns and content including webinars and conference presentations.
- Be a customer advocate; make sure that customer content is included in anything and everything we do in marketing.
- Partner with product management to guide our vision and roadmap.
- Partner with our public relations team to create differentiating, inspiring content that drives awareness and builds our brand.
- Partner with our analyst relations team to ensure industry analysts understand our strengths and our benefits.
- Represent the company at hosted client events and industry conferences.
Requirements
- BA/BS (preferably in business, engineering or a related field); MBA preferred
- 5+ years of dedicated product marketing experience; a track record of success that shows how you have moved the needle for a solution vendor in a complex enterprise SaaS-orientated market.
- Clear experience in the past of working with APM solutions or at the very least, other monitoring products.
- Credible knowledge of DevOps, cloud platforms, application architectures and analytics strategies.
- Experience in evangelizing new categories and taking new products to market. This includes marketing to different customer personas at different points in a career.
- Able to both influence strategies and has the operational discipline to execute without direct supervision,
