About the Role

Advanced Platform Security is building the solutions to enable a secure ecosystem for smart vehicles on the Uber platform and operationalizing security across early stage verticals such as self-driving cars and electric scooters.

We are seeking an experienced engineering leader with technical depth in security and engineering, hiring and mentoring, and great partnering skills to join Advanced Platform Security. The Platform Security Solutions Manager will play a key role throughout the planning, development, delivery and operationalization of security solutions. They will closely collaborate with internal and external partners including the Advanced Technology Group, Uber Elevate, Jump, and more.

You should be comfortable in uncharted territory as we build unique security solutions to enable security across the Uber partner ecosystem. We need your skills and enthusiasm to make it happen.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and grow a team of Security and Software Engineers
• Develop an ongoing roadmap and vision for the solutions needed to secure the partner ecosystem.
• Lead your team to plan and deliver secure solutions that operate at scale
• Foster cross-functional, cross-team collaboration by building relationships of trust
• Recruit talent. Mentor, coach, and develop a high performing engineering team
• Build a diverse, inclusive, fair, collaborative, and dynamic team environment
• Be an internal and external evangelist for security and platforms

What You’ll Need

• You have 5+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, with strong hands-on software design and development skills
• You know how to build highly scalable, robust, and secure solutions in a platform environment to support our unique rate-of-growth
• You have a strategic mindset, comfortable thinking far ahead of where the team is at now
• You are a creative problem solver, having an excellent understanding of business goals and able to identify and solve high impact, highly complex problems
• You have excellent execution, organization and collaboration skills
• You are biased toward action, able to do more with less and turn would-be blockers into opportunities for growth
• You are principled yet pragmatic, having conviction and being authentic in your approach, but situationally aware enough to adapt when needed

Bonus Points If

• You have experience designing and deploying solutions spanning hardware to cloud
• You have expertise in embedded system security and protocol security.
