Technical Project Manager - Openshift

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager who also has extensive experience in managing OpenShift containerised environments. As a central point of contact, you will focus on enhancing the efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness of our IT infrastructure estate. You will translate client business needs into actionable project plans, and drive successful outcomes by bridging the gap between clients and our internal engineering teams. This role requires a unique blend of engineering knowledge, strategic thinking, and exceptional communication and organisation skills to manage client expectations and drive project outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Manage infrastructure allocation, ensuring financial accountability and alignment with budgetary forecasts.
• Serve as a main point of contact for project-related communications, ensuring stakeholders are consistently informed of progress, risks, and timelines.
• Bring strong project management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple client engagements and changing priorities under pressure.
• Foster relationships with stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
• Demonstrate subject matter expert level understanding of Kubernetes / OpenShift.
• Analyse utilisation data and present tuning recommendations to improve efficiency.
• Troubleshoot application performance bottlenecks, failures, and latency issues.
• Work in a collaborative team environment, support colleagues to achieve project goals.
• Demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in technical project management or operational leadership role within an enterprise IT infrastructure environment.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organization.
• Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
• A solid technical understanding of container orchestration, using Kubernetes / OpenShift.
• Experience of deep diving into Prometheus data presented via Grafana dashboards.
• Experience using service analysis tools such as Kubecost.
• A self-starter with the leadership ability to drive initiatives forward and master new concepts quickly.

Education:

• Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience.
