The Boeing Company is in search of a Space Launch System Materials & Processes Michoud Production Support First-Line Leader​ to join our team in New Orleans, LA.

The M&P team directly supports the production statement of work at the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) in New Orleans through providing non-conformance report (NCR) reviews, engineering specification interpretation and support, temporary environmental control area certifications, and critical processes qualification and support.

This first-line manager is responsible to maintain the internal and external customer relationships associated with execution of the M&P statement of work while assuring engineering excellence and first-time quality in the team’s tooling reviews, test plan development and execution, production readiness support, and NCR resolution.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages, oversees, and coordinates the daily operations of a highly skilled engineering team performing activities within multiple engineering disciplines
  • Responsible for staffing team with appropriate skills to execute statement of work within allocated budget
  • Manages cost, schedule, and technical performance for team
  • Conveys organizational messages to facilitate the accomplishment of work-group, project or process goals and effectively communicates prioritization of work
  • Provide flow down of policies, goals, and expectations from upper levels of management
  • Listen to employee concerns and suggestions and enable resolution or be a conduit of this information to peer and upper management
  • Defines, communicates, and presents metrics on team performance towards program major milestones to senior program leadership
  • Develops and maintains partnerships and relationships with internal and external customers, stakeholders, peers and direct reports; Networks with the full Boeing Enterprise to support execution of team statement of work
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals
  • Provides oversight and management approval of technical approaches, engineering products and processes
  • Creates proposal impacts for team for task orders, change requests, and other new scope of work
  • Coaches, counsels, mentors, and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities. Aligns Technical Lead Engineers with mentees to assure transition of knowledge is effective in support of team operational and employee career goals
  • Acquires, deploys and assigns personnel to meet project and operational objectives
  • Must be able to work effectively on a development program with multi-discipline teams, including application of engineering judgment to balance requirements, risks, and costs, and be able to negotiate and communicate effectively
  • Execute large volume of work to support critical program needs including multi-shift coverage required to execute production support SOW

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position requires the ability to obtain a NASA badge.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • 3+ years’ experience leading or managing an engineering project or team
  • Experience working across organizations and cross-functional groups to ensure project coordination, implementation, and completion

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years technical leadership experience
  • 2+ years Cost Account Manager (CAM) experience
  • Experience with Boeing program management processes
  • Experience with Boeing’s Quality Management System
  • Experience providing specialized engineering experience on a development program
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with Space Launch System or NASA programs
  • Materials & Processes experience
  • RCCA (root cause and corrective action) experience

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for New Orleans: $129,200 - $174,800
