This assignment posting is for an Agency Worker opportunity with Dotdash Meredith. The Agency Worker is paid by a staffing agency employer. Agency Workers will receive a W2 from the staffing agency reporting their earnings for tax purposes. Investopedia seeks an experienced Contract Writer and Editor with demonstrated corporate, public, and finance expertise. In this role, within your contract writer capacity, you will be responsible for writing 1 to 3 evergreen educational articles each week, covering topics such as budgeting, investing, financial planning, taxes, retirement, economic policy, business, careers, and/or financial markets. These articles are designed to appeal to content aggregation platforms and educate a broad audience. Depending on the subject matter, each article will be 400–700+ words and must follow the Investopedia style, including inline citations, accurate financial terminology, and rigorous fact-checking. In addition, in your capacity as a contract editor, you will be responsible for editing the educational finance writing of others several times a week. This work helps ensure Investopedia maintains a best-in-class library of well-researched, accurate, unbiased, and trustworthy content that inspires readers' curiosity.
Assignment Responsibilities: We are looking for writer/editors who can commit to at least 10 to 20 hours of work per week. The rate of pay for this role is $30-33/hr.
Applicants must live in the United States. - Work with Investopedia editors to write and edit new, high-quality, quick-turn finance articles in a variety of subject areas.
- Interview sources and perform independent research to find primary, high-quality sources
- Review existing articles on a wide variety of topics and revise content in accordance with project instructions.
- Identify opportunities to proactively improve existing content by restructuring, strengthening sourcing, incorporating visual elements, and more.
Skills/Experience: - 2+ years of experience writing and editing finance articles with well-known publishers.
- Strong editing and writing skills with a keen sense of how to develop content that piques a reader's curiosity.
- Ability to produce well-researched, clean, and publishable finance copy on tight deadlines.
- Passionate about making complex financial concepts accessible and believes in the power of knowledge to improve people’s financial well-being.
- Experience with Google Discover, Apple News+, and other content aggregation platforms is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, multitasking ability, and verbal/written communication skills.
