About the Role
- Provides end-to-end HR guidance to the Vaccines Executive Leadership Team (VELT) with teams based in Japan and the Hikari Site Leadership Team across multiple Human Resources activities; including strategic HR advice, talent management, leadership development, workforce planning, and employee engagement.
- Coaches Vaccines leaders on Japan-specific regulations, culture, and labour practices to ensure compliance and to optimise leadership effectiveness in the local environment.
- As a member of the Hikari Site Leadership Team, leads HR support for all Vaccines employees based in Hikari, including manufacturing quality roles and site leadership, and Vaccines employees based in Osaka.
- Collaborates across Takeda functions, including Takeda Business Solutions (TBS), People and Labor Relations department, Global HR teams, and local business leaders to deliver HR solutions that enhance employee experience and drive organizational success.
How you will contribute:
- Provide executive coaching to Vaccines leaders in Japan, fostering effective leadership and compliance with Japanese regulations, labor laws and ethical practices.
- Shape the direction of the Japan Vaccines Manufacturing business through developing and deploying strategies to create a distinctive employee experience focusing on creating a collaborative, inclusive culture while addressing health and safety needs of a manufacturing workforce.
- Set short- and long-term HR agendas for the manufacturing site in alignment with Global Vaccines Business Unit and Global Portfolio Division Business and HR strategies.
- Advocate change agility by managing initiatives like restructuring teams and adopting innovative tools tailored to manufacturing environments.
- Lead initiatives to streamline operations, including Organisational Effectiveness assessments, KPI tracking, and workforce planning for manufacturing roles at the Hikari site.
- Lead talent acquisition efforts in collaboration with Talent Acquisition and COEIs, focusing on meeting operational and technical needs at the Hikari site and ensuring retention of top talent.
- Align HR strategies with key metrics to elevate team performance and drive manufacturing excellence.
- Engage in collaborative relationships with relevant HR Functions and Ethics & Compliance, Communications, and Legal partners to create impactful solutions and enhance employee experience.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years HR experience
- Proven ability to partner, advise and influence senior business leaders on people and organisational related topics
- Understands the pharmaceutical industry and manufacturing, with in-depth knowledge of Japan-specific labour laws, cultural norms, and regulations.
- Ability to communicate ideas and data persuasively, with strong analytical skills to identify root causes and determine solutions.
- Expert in workforce planning, capable of coaching others and shaping strategy at an organizational level
- Deep expertise in change management and succession planning, with the ability to foresee leadership needs and prepare accordingly.
- Proven ability to collaborate, communicate and influence effectively with multiple stakeholders across a matrixed organisation structure
- Demonstrates advanced problem solving and decision-making skills, providing guidance and recommendations on complex issues
- Resilience and ability to work with/through ambiguity

Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary:

- Salary Increase: Annually, Bonus Payment: Twice a year
- Working Hours: Headquarters (Osaka/ Tokyo) 9:00-17:30, Production Sites (Osaka/ Yamaguchi) 8:00-16:45, (Narita) 8:30-17:15, Research Site (Kanagawa) 9:00-17:45
- Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, May Day, Year-End Holidays etc. (approx. 123 days in a year)
