We are looking for a Software QA Engineer to join our Quality Assurance team in Burnaby, BC reporting to the senior manager of Software Engineering. In this role, you will be responsible for testing server software, protocols like DNS, DHCP, and DNS Threat Intelligence Security products. You will be a part of the team testing massive scale performance challenges and maintaining next-generation network actionable intelligence products. You will gain deep expertise in the Infoblox Network Services Appliance product line.

You’re the ideal candidate if you are good in test design, implementation, and coding standards and produce exemplary code and deliver completed projects in the time promised.
What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with the Agile Software Quality Engineering team to validate various features and products in Infoblox NIOS DDI platform
  • Automate test execution wherever possible using industry or home-built tools
  • Work closely with various cross-functional product teams
  • Work in fast-paced continuous integration-based engineering environment
  • Anticipate future technology needs and business requirements to drive new technological approaches and tools
  • Work on customer related priority and complex issues
  • Scale testing, reproduce customer complex issues using different traffic profiles

What you will bring:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance
  • Perform unit and system-level testing on applications and affected systems
  • Familiar with Linux OS, OSI layers & TCP/IP
  • Knowledge of DNS, DHCP is preferred. DOT. DOH knowledge
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux environments
  • Good exposure to networking concepts practically – Routers, Switches, anycast, IP Address Management, IPv4 & IPv6
  • Experience in Agile methodologies with software development life-cycle experience
  • Results-oriented and solid work ethic with excellent attention to detail
  • Some experience with performance and scale testing
  • Experience with traffic generators like IXIA, in house tools
  • Capability to write & written tools for load test
  • Knowledge of AWS/Azure/GCP clouds, deployments, networking and testing in these platforms
  • Knowledge of reproducing and working on customer issues. Replicate different configurations and third party software’s that they use in their solution with your product
  • Detailed analysis of traffic captures
  • Capability to look into logs and map to the customer issues
  • Experience with automation using Python

What success looks like:

After six months, you will...

  • Be able to understand the end-to-end application flow, automation framework, approach & execution environment, including AWS and on-prem, to provide the necessary production support, deliver the business requirements, and bring stability to the application.
  • Handle Customer issues, resolution & RFE understanding, and UI test plan independently
  • Mentor juniors working in your team and collaborate well with Project Managers, engineering & support teams

After about a year, you will...

  • Be able to identify and address the root cause of the defects, proactively addressing some of the issues in the applications with automation or re-use, which in turn would take care of re-occurring defects and will give you additional bandwidth to focus on more development activities
  • Register and complete training and certifications to help you address application needs and for career growth
  • Gain 100% knowledge and hands-on test automation tasks and execution along with effort estimates and planning releases

You can expect our employment offers to take many factors into consideration, including but not limited to the location of the role, internal equity, applicable past experience, individual skill set, education, and professional certifications. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned is the base salary range for the role. The typical base salary range for this position based in the province of British Columbia is $81,500 - $118,800 plus corporate bonus or commission potential.
