Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seek a passionate and experienced learning and leadership development professional to fill the role of
Manager, Learning and Leadership Development (L&D) . Reporting to the
Associate Director, Learning and L&D supports progress toward our strategic goals of attracting, developing, and retaining top talent and becoming a Great Place to Work for All.
Purpose: Manager, Learning & Leadership Development owns and delivers a portfolio of training programs outlined in PPFA’s leadership development framework, competency model mentoring /coaching programs, and ad hoc training experiences with responsibility for training and supporting staff at several levels over the full employment lifecycle. This manager is uniquely qualified to lead this work based on skills and experience in Leadership Development, Adult Learning Theory, Organizational Development & Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Training Design & Facilitation, and Event Planning.
Delivery: • Serves as a primary lead of the delivery team for PPFA’s leadership development framework. • Facilitates onboarding and foundational level training at the national office (PPFA) as outlined in PPFA’s leadership development framework. • Serve as a primary facilitator for new hire orientation and Trust for All sessions (all staff) • Provide event support to the Total Reward and People Ops Team, as requested. • Assists with the planning and execution of division meetings and the annual PCE division by serving as an adult learning SME. • Identifies when and where there is a need for contracted facilitator support to meet the demand of the national office and notifies the Associate Director for resolution. • Revises training content as needed and/or designs next phases of content. • Regularly audit and modify the learning products available to National Office and Affiliate audiences through both the CAL (LMS), the Intranet, and the 360Learning platform. • Partners closely with Culture and Equity staff to ensure integration of In This Together (ITT) values and equity principles within learning content. • Leverages various learning technologies and platforms to facilitate efficient and effective knowledge sharing and learning across the organization. • Serves as a super-user for the LinkedIn Learning catalog. • Coordinates and delivers the annual Solidarity conference in partnership with the Manager of Culture & Equity and the Manager, PED (LMS Manager). • Provide strong (co)Project Management of PPFA’s ERG program in partnership with the Manager, Culture & Equity. • Partners with the C&E Team to ensure DEI principles are embedded throughout PPFA’s learning framework. • Collaborate and co-lead projects assigned to Associate Director, Learning & Leadership Development. • Demonstrates commitment to and embodiment of gender, racial, and reproductive justice values and demonstrated ability to apply those values to the employee experience and learning solutions • Builds and maintains relationships with the People, Culture, and Equity team, National Office leaders, affiliate staff and leaders, and other stakeholders at various organizational levels to increase engagement center equity. • Creates and updates facilitator guides to facilitate training sessions and presentations.
Engagement: • Engages regularly with all first-day new hires, National Office staff and leaders, affiliate staff and leaders, PCE division team members, and external partners. • Serves as key partner to Associate Director, Learning & Leadership Development • Builds trusting, strong, and collaborative relationships with People & Culture Business partners, the broader PCE team, ERG leaders, leaders, and staff at all levels across the organization to advance the critical priorities for the organization. • Partners with internal and external DEI partners to ensure equitable strategies and procedures within work. • Demonstrates a commitment to race equity. Maintains current knowledge of PPFA’s work toward enhanced race equity standards, is held accountable to them, and holds their team members accountable. • Demonstrates commitment to and embodiment of gender, racial, and reproductive justice values and demonstrates the ability to apply those values to leadership programs. • Continuously maintains professional growth and learning by attending and engaging in internal and external conferences, seminars, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, organizational development, industrial/organizational psychology, instructional design/technology, a related field,
or equivalent experience. • Minimum 3 years of experience working in any combination of Learning & Development, Organizational Development, & Human Resources, preferably within a large and/or federated not-for-profit organization. • Experience working with Learning Management Systems, and is comfortable learning and using new systems. • Demonstrated ability to achieve objectives in collaboration with other functional areas. • Demonstrated commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission, vision, and values. • Experience and fluency in implementing training curricula & education for adult learners related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. (experience with training trainers in the art of facilitating conversations rooted in identity is useful) • Base knowledge of core diversity concepts, including power and privilege, systems of oppression, emotional intelligence, implicit bias, etc. • Demonstrated experience successfully working with a broad spectrum of people from various identities and experiences. • Experienced facilitator (i.e., understands the difference between presentation and facilitation) • Familiarity with cultural frameworks (i.e., In this together) or similar Organizational Cultural Frameworks that include company values, standards, etc. • Knowledge of global trends in Learning & Development, Employee Engagement, and Workplace Culture and can apply to learning solutions. • Strong customer service orientation Ability to: •Work under pressure on multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. • Facilitate meetings, ensuring that all viewpoints, ideas, and problems are addressed. • Attend to detail while maintaining a big-picture orientation. • Be an engaged listener with the ability to build consensus both within and outside the organization. • Gather information, identify links and trends, and apply findings to assignments. • Inspire enthusiasm and influence, motivate and persuade others to achieve desired outcomes. • Interpret and apply organizational policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriate. • Execute strong visual design and comfort with various presentation tools (i.e., Powerpoint, Canva, Excel) • Apply Instructional Design Methodology (i.e., ADDIE) and Adult Learning Principles. • Apply Trauma-Informed Practices ( i.e., has completed training or certification in this area, worked with a mentor, etc.) familiarity with employee well-being concepts: burnout, decompression, and whole-person approach at work. • Apply a Human-Centered Design approach. • Coordinate and manage projects using various tools (i.e., Asana, Miro, etc.) • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. • Lead and work in a hybrid work environment. • Handle stressful situations and provide a high level of customer service in a calm and values-aligned manner. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships. • Solve problems, analyze information and data, and manage projects. • Exercise a high degree of judgment and diplomacy and maintain confidentiality.
Travel: 0-20%, domestically $85,000 - $95,000 a year Total offer package to include generous vacation + sick leave + paid holidays, individual/family provided medical, dental and vision benefits effective day 1, life insurance, short/long term disability, paid family leave and 401k.
