You will be part of the team responsible for the design, development, and optimization of Edge Platform software services and security infrastructure that form the underpinnings of products. Our software is a combination of many different technologies. It is a web server, a web client, a distributed caching engine, and it provides a scalable, fault-tolerant solution to web sites for handling their traffic.

As a Software Engineer Senior II, you will be responsible for:

· Designing and developing scalable and high-performance software that powers some of the biggest online events.

· Improving the performance and cost efficiency of our products.

· Adopting latest technology and standards to keep the software up to date; this keeps us ahead of the curve.

· Troubleshooting and debugging problems on the Akamai platform whenever needed; it is our platform, and hence it is our responsibility to keep it running!

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

· Have 8+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science.

· Have excellent system design and programming skills in C++.

· Have proficiency in any scripting language (Python, Perl, Shell, etc.)

· Demonstrate good understanding of Data Structures, Computer Networks, Operating System concepts.

· Have exposure to internet technologies such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS etc.

· Have experience developing backend software in a Linux/Unix environment.

· Have exposure to Systems Programming concepts such as multi-threading, file I/O, sockets, IPC etc.

· Have exposure to TLS/ OpenSSL knowledge.

• Be passionate about solving large-scale distributed systems problems and enjoy collaborating and solving problems with others .
