What You’ll Do

As a principal Software Architect at Teradata

• Lead the development and implementation of Data Movement and Data Protection initiatives.
• Design software systems to meet functional and non-functional requirements (scalability, reliability, performance, security).
• Provide technical leadership to development teams, guiding architectural best practices, design patterns, and coding standards.
• Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve the overall Data Movement and Protection development processes and enhance products.
• Mentor and coach team members to grow their technical skills and understanding of software architecture principles.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, advocating for process improvements, automation, and innovation.
• Lead strategic planning exercises to align software architecture efforts with business goals and future product roadmaps.
• Shape the technological vision of Data Protection & Movement Areas, ensuring successful execution of software solutions at Teradata.

Who You’ll Work With

As a Principal Software Architect, you will be working with variety of stakeholders within an organization

1. You will be working with various SWE teams in Data Movement and protection product areas to ensure architectural designs are implemented correctly and efficiently.
2. Work with product managers to align technical solutions with business objectives and requirements.
3. Working with senior management to provide insights into technology strategy, roadmaps, and the impact of architectural decisions on business outcomes.
4. You will be interacting with clients or customers to understand requirements and constraints, especially in consulting or client-facing roles.

Overall, as a Principal Software Architect you will be playing a pivotal role in bridging technical expertise with business needs and ensuring that the architectural vision aligns with both short-term project goals and long-term strategic objectives.

What You’ll Bring

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with minimum 15 years of experience
• Extensive experience in designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and maintainable software architectures.
• Hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including services like EC2, S3 etc
• Knowledge of various database systems (SQL and NoSQL), and their use in scalable applications.

As a Principal Software Architect should have a strong foundation in software engineering principles, combined with leadership skills and the ability to drive architectural decisions that align with business objectives and technical requirements. Continuous learning and adaptability are also crucial, given the rapid evolution of technology in the software industry.
