Responsibilities

The Center for Immunity and Immunotherapies at Seattle Children’s Research Institute (https://www.seattlechildrens.org/research/centers-programs/immunity-and-immunotherapies/) is hiring a research scientist with interest in computational biology to join our rapidly expanding immunology research programs. This collaborative position would provide a motivated candidate the opportunity to contribute to several research projects spanning the basic biology of systemic autoimmunity and development of novel therapies for human disease.

We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about taking a hands-on, problem-solving approach, can think analytically, and enjoys working in a collaborative group setting. The candidate will work alongside bench scientists and other researchers to develop computational pipelines to analyse single cell RNA-Seq data, mutational scanning experiments, and other cutting-edge “-omics” technologies.

Must possess a professional demeanor and excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to multitask and troubleshoot various issues.

Experience with at least one major data science language (e.g., R, Python) is required. However, multiple options for “on-the-job” training will be provided to support career growth in the rapidly expanding field of computational biology. This position would be particularly appropriate for an applicant desiring additional research training prior to applying to graduate or medical school in 2-3 years.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Analysis of single cell genomics data (RNA, ATAC, CITE-seq) using Monocle3, Seurat, Cell Ranger, etc.
2. Interpretation of spatial transcriptomic data generated using the Nanostring GeoMx Digital Spatial Profiler (DSP) and CosMx Spatial Molecular Imager platforms
3. Collaborate with scientist stakeholders to assist in experimental design and to adapt/build workflows for analysis of next generation sequencing data
4. Interpret, evaluate, analyze, and present data/progress through individual and group meetings as well as accurately document and record experiments in an electronic lab notebook (ELN).
5. Contribute to writing for publication of results; generate figures for papers and grants.

Requirements

Required Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in biology, microbiology, immunology, molecular biology or biochemistry.
• Prior experience in a laboratory setting.

Required Credentials:

• N/A.

Preferred:

• Research experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, and tissue culture techniques is highly preferred.

Min to Max Hourly Salary

$25.09 - $37.64 /hr

Min to Max Annual Salary

$52,187.20 - $78,291.20 /yr

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.

Seattle Children’s offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
