Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education. Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seek a dynamic and community-centered Black Campaigns Specialist who will report to the Associate Director of Black Campaigns in the Organizing & Electoral Campaigns Department to deepen the organizing efforts in Black communities. The Specialist will strengthen, support, and coach PPFA’s Black Organizing Program/ Action Fund’s Black Campaigns Program through partnerships with local staff at PP affiliates and PP advocacy and political organizations. Purpose: ●Work with the Associate Director of Black Campaigns, Director of Black Campaigns and Senior Director of Constituency Campaigns to amplify the reality of health disparities in Black communities and integrate into state and national organizing strategies ●In partnership with the Black Organizing and Black Campaigns Team and Regional Campaigns Directors, build the capacity of Black Organizing Program affiliates to achieve their yearly goals and deliverables, which includes driving local and state issue campaigns impacting local Black communities in their assigned region ●Provide technical assistance to affiliates/local advocacy organizations for planning and executing national and regional issues and skill-based conferences in organizing and advocacy ●Support national Black organizing and engagement at conferences and convenings ●Complete program administrative work, including tracking invoices, program metrics and goals, and drafting organizing guidance Engagement: ●Participates in regular in-person or virtual meetings with: ○Black Organizing Program/Black Campaigns Team ○Black Campaigns Associate Director ○Organizing & Electoral/Engagement Campaigns Team ○Working groups with various staff from across the organization ○Local staff organizers working with volunteers ○Partner organizations Delivery: Ideal candidates for this position will accomplish the above deliverables by: ●Regular correspondence over email, phone, video conferencing, and other communication platforms ●Creating and/or writing of organizing strategy, guidance and best practices ●Providing virtual and/or in-person training and meeting facilitation ●Travel up to 40% of the time (domestic) for in person meetings and event execution Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): ●1-2 years of full-time relevant experience working with Black and/or communities of color in issue, policy and/or electoral organizing, campaigns, and initiatives ●Have working knowledge of key reproductive health, rights and justice issues and campus organizing strategies, policies, and campaigns ●High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred ●Strong racial analysis and equity lens ●Previous community organizing experience either as a paid staff or volunteer/intern ●Solid organizational and administrative skills with strong attention to details ●Strong written and verbal communication skills ●Solid computer and Google Docs (docs, spreadsheet, PowerPoint) literacy ●Able to work autonomously and in teams, including key partners ●Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills ●Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to resolve conflicts in a manner that respects relationships between two or more parties ●Commitment to coaching and developing highly skilled and talented local Public Affairs staff, as well as building the capacity and leadership of new organizers with compassion and care ●Relationship-oriented, with the ability to develop authentic relationships built on trust and accountability Travel: 0-40% domestic Total offer package to include generous vacation + sick leave + paid holidays, individual/family provided medical, dental and vision benefits effective day 1, life insurance, short/long term disability, paid family leave and 401k.
