Platform Stability Engineer

Job Description

Zoox's Hardware Software Integration team is responsible for ensuring various hardware subsystems work reliably on our vehicle platform on a day-to-day basis. As a Platform Stability Engineer, you will be responsible for investigating stability anomalies in the Zoox sensor, compute, networking, and embedded subsystems. You will root-cause chronic and intermittent issues observed during fleet operations, and acute issues escalated from first-line support.

In this role, you will:

• Lead and debug urgent vehicle platform issues, and analyze vehicle log data to identify problem root-cause.
• Debug issues that simultaneously involve multiple technologies: lidar, radar, cameras, and other sensors, automotive Ethernet, CAN bus, Linux I/O subsystem.
• Document patterns of logged events that positively identify a known root-cause for chronic issues.
• Provide second-level consulting and assistance to Fleet Support Engineering and Manufacturing Test Engineering.
• Contribute to the development of diagnostic scripts and tools.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant industry experience
• Track record debugging ambiguous, multi-faceted problems involving hardware, software, and firmware.
• Familiarity with Ethernet and CAN bus, and expertise in at least one.
• Moderately fluent in Python or similar scripting language.
• Familiarity with Linux, git, or other source code management systems.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with automotive Ethernet and PTP
• Fluency with Wireshark
• Fluency with CAN bus diagnostic tools such as CANalyzer or CANoe

Compensation There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $165,000 to $215,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
