Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education. Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s (PPAF) Organizing and Electoral Campaigns Department seeks a dynamic and effective Associate Director, National Volunteer Program. Reporting to the Senior Director of Digital Organizing, the Associate Director will lead the national virtual volunteer program to mobilize supporters across the country in meaningful low and high bar actions on priority federal, state, judicial, ballot initiative and electoral campaigns. Purpose : The Associate Director of National Volunteer Program will lead PPFA’s, PPAF’s, and Planned Parenthood (PP) Votes’ volunteer engagement efforts, primarily through the National Volunteer Program and in collaboration and consultation with local Planned Parenthood advocacy organizations. As a program leader, they ensure strong program design and execution and manage a team of three digital organizing managers. This role also serves as a project lead around efforts to strengthen PPFA’s, PPAF’s, and PP Votes’ volunteer recruitment and engagement for the Organizing, Partnerships and Constituencies team. Delivery : In consultation with the Senior Director of Digital Organizing, lead the team to develop and implement the strategic vision for engaging supporters through organizing strategies virtually and in-person where applicable. ● Lead the program strategy and execution of Planned Parenthood’s National Volunteer Program to maximize the volunteer power of Planned Parenthood organizations to win federal campaigns, elections, and build capacity for state and local campaigns. ● Manage a team of National Volunteer Program Organizing Managers who train and mobilize PPFA/PPAF/PP Votes’ volunteers nationally. ● Responsible for weekly engagement of supporters and virtual volunteers both directly and through managing organizers, including maximizing turnout to ensure ongoing engagement of top volunteers. ● Mobilize supporters to contribute to long term efforts and rapid response campaigns on birth control, abortion access, sex ed, healthcare, and reproductive health and cross-movement issues like gender justice and LGBTQ+ rights, voting rights, racial justice, gun violence prevention and more. ● Lead the implementation of the PPFA, PPAF, and PP Votes’ National Volunteer Program to train volunteers on how to organize and build power. ● Consult and provide guidance and assistance to local staff that receive support from the National Volunteer Program. ● Support execution of national volunteer calls and work directly with top volunteers to develop their organizing skills or content expertise in sexual and reproductive healthcare. ● Contribute to digital organizing plans and resources alongside the Senior Director of Digital Organizing to leverage digital tools to scale and develop volunteer programs in consultation with staff across Organizing, Engagement & Campaigns (OEC). ● Work alongside the Senior Director and Digital Fundraising & Supporter Engagement team to pilot programs and testing to increase absorption, recruitment, and retention across supporters from national and local volunteer programs. ● Support in-person activations as needed at direction of the Senior Director or National Organizing Director, including engagement of virtual volunteers at in person events. ● Support the Senior Director with monthly reporting to highlight the successes and learnings from the National Volunteer Program. ● Other duties as assigned. Engagement: The Associate Director, National Volunteer Program will work cross-functionally, including with our Data, Analytics, and Research Team, Digital Fundraising & Supporter Engagement team, the Social Media team, the Communications team, the Organizing, Partnership, and Constituency Team, Campaigns Team and Planned Parenthood local staff, to develop resources, training, and tools to support affiliate staff build scalable volunteer programs and application of digital tools. They must effectively work in collaboration with teams to ensure there is alignment across data, tracking, and reporting. The person in this role manages the National Volunteer Program organizing team, currently composed of three National Volunteer Program Organizing Managers and may expand depending on campaign needs. The Associate Director must collaborate with the team to set sustainable goals and deadlines for volunteer programs. The Associate Director engages and speaks publicly with Planned Parenthood supporters as needed at the direction of the Senior Director and National Organizing Director. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): ● 7+ years professional experience including 3+ years managing volunteer engagement program. ● High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in XYZ preferred. ● Experience managing staff, coaching and developing leadership amongst teams. ● Experience organizing volunteers, a base, and/or communities to take meaningful actions virtually, in particular working with young people, Black, Latinx and other communities of color. ● Experience developing and implementing advocacy, social justice, and/or electoral campaigns with volunteers. ● Experience moving volunteers up a ladder of engagement and implementing tactics for volunteer leadership development . ● Experience and an informed point of view on digital organizing tools that can enable volunteer action and supporting organizing either locally or nationally. ● Be able to develop and implement training programs to advance mobilization efforts for peaks and campaigns. ● Be able to create and execute project plans to engage multiple stakeholders in an online and offline environment. ● Strong commitment to collaborating with others toward a specific goal and working effectively through tensions or challenges to align interests. ● Passion for grassroots organizing and excitement to work on locally-led efforts that are nationally impactful. ● Excellent project management skills, ability to handle multiple projects and tasks Travel : 0-25% domestic $95,000 - $100,000 a year Total offer package to include generous vacation + sick leave + paid holidays, individual/family provided medical, dental and vision benefits effective day 1, life insurance, short/long term disability, paid family leave and 401k.
