THE ROLE: The Technology Innovation Intern will be responsible for analyzing the current uses and advantages of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in early stages of new product development. The output will be actionable recommendations, prioritizing necessary steps for our organization to effectively adopt and implement AI technology.

Xylem Summer Internships typically last 10-12 weeks and are an opportunity to get hands-on, professional experience while making a lasting contribution to Xylem as an organization. Our internship program is intended to create a pipeline of talented undergraduate students who are interested in a career in the water innovation technology industry. Interns are our primary talent pool for all full-time early career positions and rotational programs. The Summer Internship is a great opportunity to learn more about Xylem and see if a career in water technology is right for you.

The hourly rate for an intern is dependent on a variety of factors including major, year in school and geographic location. The average hourly rate for an intern is between $21.00 - $27.00/hour. Locations of internships will vary based on the specified project and function, and will either be on-site, hybrid or fully remote.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES : To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Research and analyze AI applications within the new product development and content creation.
• Evaluate industry practices and benchmarks related to AI integration in similar processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and insights on current practices, limitations, and potential opportunities for AI implementation.
• Identify key areas where AI can enhance and optimize the new product development lifecycle.
• Investigate content creation AI strategies for data sheets, flyers, website content, articles, and training materials.
• Analyze ways to simplify complex project notes or technical documentation for better comprehension.
• Formulate clear and actionable recommendations for the effective integration of AI technology.
• Present findings, recommendations, and action plans to senior management or relevant stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics, etc.).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and extract meaningful insights.
• Familiarity with AI technologies, machine learning principles, and their applications in business.
• Proficiency in research methodologies and data analysis tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team
• Passion for innovation and technology, particularly in the context of new product development.
