THE ROLE: The Electronics System Engineer, Designer and Developer will be responsible for the design, development of various electronics systems, and commercialization of new and existing products and technologies used to inspect and monitor pipeline infrastructure (water, oil and gas). That person will work with creative, passionate, fast, and highly talented multi-disciplinary development team. Xylem seeks to hire an intermediate or senior Electronics System Engineer, Designer and Developer The electronics system designer/ engineer/ developer will work with other engineering disciplines such as data science, software engineering, mechanical engineering in the development and ongoing technical support of the product portfolio and will entail full life-cycle responsibilities from conceptual design of new product introduction to resolving any technical issue with legacy products. Product design ownership, collaborative attitude, and enthusiasm for delivering on-time within budget and quality requirements are crucial for success in this position. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Create firmware applications and communication protocols using C & C++.
  • Adhere to established R&D software guidelines for coding, documenting, storing, testing, and implementing software, including field implementation when required.
  • Engage in the design, development, review, update, and modification of electrical designs, schematics, and PCBs as an intermediate level of electronics engineer/ developer.
  • Participate in the product development life cycle, which involves analyzing requirements, conceptualizing, conducting feasibility studies, selecting components, simulating, capturing schematics, laying out PCBs, conducting product verification testing, ensuring reliability, performing systems and regulatory testing.
  • Provide technical guidance to other functional groups (manufacturing, operations, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of the design in the manufacturing and business processes.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical and product engineers/ technicians to guarantee the production of high-quality, factory-ready products that meet schedule, cost, and performance requirements.
  • Generate necessary documentation for collaboration, sustainability, and internal processes including test procedure, BOM and assembly procedure.
  • Be available for travel to the job site/ other Xylem offices to support inspection, understand operating condition and user, and voice of internal and external customer.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be required based on organization needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Mechatronics.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in embedded OS and/or embedded systems development.
  • Familiarity with Version Control Systems like GIT or SVN.
  • Hands-on experience with TCP/IP, UDP, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, I2C, and SPI protocols.
  • Experience in analyzing code execution using a debugger.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with Altium Designer for schematic and PCBA design.
  • Experience using common test equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to adapt to work priority changes.
  • High speed ADC FPGA interface experience would be an asset.
  • TI DSP and Microchip MCU experience would be an asset.
  • This person will be in Xylem Mississauga facility in Ontario, Canada, also will need to work mainly in the office.
