Our team is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to play a pivotal role in developing both Medium’s website and its mobile applications.

What you'll do

• Contribute to the technical strategy with insightful and forward-looking approaches that go beyond the direct team and solve large open-ended problems.
• Actively own features or systems and define their long-term health, while also improving the health of surrounding systems.
• Develop & implement tests for ensuring the quality, performance, & scalability of our application.
• Mentor other engineers and participate in code reviews.
• Contribute to engineering standards, tooling, processes, and culture.
• Assist in triaging and resolving production issues.

Who you are

• 5+ years experience
• Have written understandable, testable code with an eye toward maintainability.
• Strong generalist backend knowledge (databases, services, performance, profiling, caching)
• Solid experience with Go and Kubernetes
• Strong communicator
• Experience with GraphQL is a bonus
