Responsibilities

Assist the assigned division research team in the organization, implementation and completion of clinical research trials. Maintain regulatory documents; assist the Principal Investigator in the planning of protocol implementation and site initiation visits and routine monitoring of clinical studies. Along with the PI, ensure that research projects are conducted in compliance with federal regulations, institutional policies/departmental guidelines, and standards of Good Clinical Practice.

The Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine has an opportunity for a part-time Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) for 20 hours per week. The CRC will provide support for two ongoing NIH-funded studies to better understand long-term outcomes after pediatric critical illness, to evaluate the feasibility and validity of remote monitoring of physical and pulmonary function after pediatric lung disease, and to identify whether there are any potentially modifiable clinical factors that affect the trajectory of recovery after severe illness. The CRC will screen patients admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Seattle Children’s Hospital to determine eligibility, and will approach and enroll eligible patients and families including explaining study procedures and obtaining informed consent. The CRC will conduct interviews with enrolled families according to the established protocol, and assist families in responding to paper or electronic questionnaires. The CRC will coordinate in-person and remote pulmonary and physical activity evaluations at hospital discharge and 3 months post-discharge. The CRC will maintain a database of enrolled participants and will contact families multiple times over the one year following their child’s PICU admission to conduct follow-up interviews and questionnaires. The CRC will work under the direction of the study Principal Investigator. Job duties include but are not limited to:• Use the electronic medical record to screen prospective participants to determine eligibility • Approach eligible patients and families in the PICU of Seattle Children’s Hospital to introduce the studies and enroll participants• Review and explain consent forms and questionnaires with prospective participants• Conduct in-person interviews in the PICU with enrolled participants • Coordinate in-person and remote pulmonary function testing • Instruct participants and families in remote physical activity monitoring• Contact participants via email, text, mail, or phone to administer follow-up interviews and questionnaires throughout the year following the child’s PICU admission• Maintain accurate and complete data records for all subjects studied• Comply with established IRB protocols • Adhere to all policies and procedures as specified by the IRB• Maintain confidentiality of participant records Minimum Qualifications:• Able to commute to Seattle Children’s Hospital • Able to work effectively in an intensive care unit setting with critically ill children • Excellent communication and people skills • Excellent organizational skills• Ability to work independently• Experience with spreadsheets and/or databases Desired Qualifications:• Prior experience in clinical research• Experience with REDCap databases

Requirements

Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience in research or a related field/setting.
- Confirmed proficiency in a second language via successful completion of a language assessment may be required for certain departments.

Min to Max Hourly Salary

$26.81 - $40.21 /hr

Min to Max Annual Salary

$55,764.80 - $83,636.80 /yr

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.

Seattle Children’s offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
