Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Revenue Engineering team. We are responsible for redefining billions of EUR in commercial events into the financial statement. In this team, you will be working with the revenue that enables creators to live off their art. Do you want to be a part of the team within Spotify that makes sure artists and songwriters get paid for the music they have crafted? To give you a teaser, to do that, we need to process hundreds of millions of users and billions of daily streams into accurate compensation (royalties) that we pay out every month. This is at the core of Spotify’s business model, which means that our team contributes to highly visible initiatives across the company. It also means that we have to understand many other teams’ business domains and systems to operate and evolve our own systems optimally.
What You'll Do
- Build scalable batch data processing systems with Scala and Scio running on GCP.
- Driving the evolution of a key system by shaping its technical roadmap.
- Help drive optimization, testing, and tooling to improve data quality and platform stability.
- Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, business analysts, and functional specialists to efficiently deliver projects.
- Work in multi-functional agile teams to continuously experiment, iterate and deliver on new product objectives enabling Spotify to expand its revenue processing capabilities.
- Use standard methodologies in continuous integration and delivery.
Who You Are
- You have professional experience in a product-driven environment.
- Know how to write distributed, high-volume services in Java or Scala.
- You have worked with cloud technologies (We use GCP).
- You are proficient in the SQL language and databases.
- You are knowledgeable about data modeling, data access, and data storage techniques.
- You are a self-motivated individual contributor and great teammate with the ability to multitask, prioritize and communicate progress in a constantly evolving environment.
- Have a deep understanding of system design and data modeling in an enterprise and data-focused environment.
- You care about agile software processes and iterative delivery, data-driven development, reliability, and responsible experimentation.

- We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
- We ask that our team members be located within Greenwich Mean time zone, Central European time zone, or Eastern European standard time zone for the purposes of our collaboration hours.
- Where in the world? For this role, it can be in EMEA where we have work locations.
