International Television Production (ITVP) is the international arm of Sony Pictures Entertainment's (SPE) worldwide television production business. The ITVP business is comprised of a portfolio of acquired production companies and equity investments located across the United Kingdom, Europe, Latin America, and Asia. ITVP television shows (and some feature film remakes) are produced for linear, digital, and broadcast platforms, and include such titles as The Crown (Netflix), His Dark Materials (HBO), and De Brutas Nada (Amazon Prime).
The Global Finance Operations (GFO) Home Office in Culver City, California, is responsible for worldwide oversight and financial consolidation, management reporting, SPE Corporate reporting, ad hoc projects, and compliance and controls. The GFO Home Office team collaborates closely with business partners in Divisional Finance/FP&A (based in London), regional RTR GFO teams for EMEA (based in Poland) and for Latin America (based in Miami), Group Consolidation & Reporting, Business Affairs, and SPE Technical Accounting (all based in Culver City), and SPE’s outsourced accounting service provider CapGemini (based in India and Guatemala).
Based in Manila, Philippines, the Assistant Accounting Manager for RTR GFO International TV Production will be responsible for the preparation, review, analysis, and corporate submission of activities related to the consolidated financials. This individual will work closely with the Director and Manager, SPE’s outsource accounting service provider, CapGemini, and other business partners in Divisional Finance, Business Affairs, regional GFO, and Group Consolidation & Reporting.
Core Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the review of ITVP revenue streams: production, owned IP, work for hire, WW distribution
- Responsible for monitoring proper accounting treatments and posting month-end net down and elimination entries
- Responsible for monitoring roll-forward accounts such as film cost inventory (content assets), deferred revenue, and others
- Responsible for running title amortization and investigating unusual activity or amounts
- Assist with the review of by title Revenue and Operating Income balances and actual vs. budget/forecast variance analysis
- Assist with the preparation of various judgmental journal entries
- Prepare the monthly cashflow reconciliation
- Ensure work performed is compliant with applicable SOX controls, and provide supporting documentation as requested for audit testing
- Complete ad hoc requests (e.g., historical data reporting, margin analysis, title groupings, etc.) for senior management and other parties
- Run and oversee the preparation of SAP, BW, and Excel reports for analysis required for the review of financial statements
- Establish working relationship with Divisional Finance, regional GFO teams, Business Affairs, and ITVP affiliates
- Embrace change and demonstrate flexibility in dynamic situations which can often have both unclear and uncertain outcomes
- Define, refine, and implement all aspects of the “GFO Model”. This includes active participation in defining the interaction model with Divisional Finance, Capgemini, and commercial teams; playing an integral role in maintaining a strong control environment; executing on the appropriate reviews and feedback mechanisms
- Manage, train, oversee Capgemini team, as needed
- Identify and implement opportunities to eliminate low value work and standardize processes which will reduce complexity and enable greater benefits to be derived from technology (RPA, SAP S4/Hana, etc.)
- Champion the concepts of ESOAR: Eliminate, Standardize, Optimize, Automate, Robotize
Job Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy
- 4 to 6 years of professional experience in a finance/accounting role
- Strong Accounting experience (CPA is a plus)
- Experience with complex ERP systems (SAP, S4/HANA) and General Ledger postings
- Understanding of entertainment industry accounting is a plus
- Strong MS Excel skills required (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, VBA Macros, etc.)
- Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and connect the dots to problem solve with reasonable independence
- Ability to manage multiple projects while working in a cross functional team environment; and strong initiative to follow through on tasks to timely completion
- Strong level of communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong level of interpersonal skills working with staff in multiple time zones and countries
- Ability to follow-through with co-workers on projects/tasks by setting guidelines, timetables, and clear sense of expectations
