At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-events or offsites. Your hiring manager can share more about this role’s hybrid or remote time, others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

In Office: This is an in-office position. You’ll eventually be expected to work full-time in an office location, and therefore must live within commuting distance from your assigned office. If your designated office has re-opened to employees, you will work from this office beginning on your first day. If your designated office is not yet re-opened, you’ll work remotely until leadership transitions the team back to in-office work. Your hiring manager will communicate whether your designated office is open to employees before your first day.​

GoDaddy is building a new Development Centre in New Delhi/NCR Region, to support our ambitious plans in India and our growing worldwide footprint. Our goal is to make it a center of excellence, fully autonomous with opportunities to grow talent through the levels. As an Engineering Manager, you will be independently contributing about 30% of your time (so this is a very hands-on role) and, would be responsible for:

• Building, improving, and enhancing Data products that will contribute to multiple business units within GoDaddy
• Own developing tactical execution plans, technology innovation, and selection of the right tools and frameworks, build Sprint backlog and roadmap along with Product & Program Managers, Architects, and leaders
• Drive engineering & operational excellence including automation, quality, efficiency, and productivity. Provide technical mentorship to the team including architecture, design, and code reviews
• Predominantly lead a team in India, but also collaborate with other stakeholders across different time zones
• Owning end-to-end performance of the squad to deliver working, quality code, and artifacts
• Provide inputs to resource requirement plans, skill assessments, and Learning/Development plans for your team members

Your experience should include...

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM/Master’s degree in a STEM field/equivalent practical experience
• 10+ years of experience working as an Individual contributor and a manager, successfully building and shipping customer and/or developer-facing products & services at the Internet scale
• Strong leadership on both the technology & people sides with rich experience in large-scale data platforms, data as a service, and building enterprise data strategy & governance
• Directly led a team of 5+ Engineers
• You need to have a strong understanding of what constitutes Good, Clean, Testable, and Reliable code and CI/CD artifacts. Must have a good working experience in Scrum & Agile execution modes
• Experience leading teams that have built cloud-based services using AWS
• High proficiency in Java programming language including Lambda, Streaming API, Asynchronous programming
• Building highly available distributed systems using cloud technologies
• Using database technologies to power platforms or user experiences and/or Big Data experience
• Building RESTful APIs, knowledge of JWT and other authentication schemes
• Thorough knowledge of Spring Boot, Reactive programming, and, Observability in distributed systems
• Good knowledge of build tools like Maven, Gradle
• Solid grasp of at least one Relational and one NoSQL database
• Good experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of S3, Lambdas, API Gateway, Kinesis, and various message queues is needed
• Superb communication and, interpersonal skills

You might also have...

• Knowledge of OLAP/Data Warehouse (RedShift) is a plus
• Knowledge of Spark, EMR, and AWS Glue would be a big plus
• A natural intellectual curiosity. You succeed in fast-paced environments, accompanied by agile engineering practices. Delivering business value without compromising quality is central to your purpose
• The ability to think strategically, see patterns and relationships in information and events, anticipate trends and possibilities that may lead to new business opportunities, and effectively respond with a bias for action will be a success factor
