The Global Product Manager (GPM) – Concrete Pipelines is responsible for managing, developing, and driving profitable business growth for the management of large diameter concrete pipelines in the water utilities sector. This role manages & coordinates a vertically integrated stack of service solutions across their full lifecycles by gathering and prioritizing customer requirements, defining roadmaps, value propositions and working closely the leaders of each tier in the offering to deliver and introduce winning products to the market. The GPM is a key strategic role, coordinating with regional leaders, business development, condition assessment engineering, operations/delivery, product development and marketing.
This position is responsible for developing and executing strategies to accelerate revenue growth and maximize holistic solution profitability including thought leadership in the industry, supporting strategic pricing, developing winning customer value propositions, maximizing the value stream of the solution offering and leading the business through deep market knowledge from their market, customer and competitor analysis. This role is also responsible for working with marketing functions to promote and develop content for solution launch, sales training, and marketing.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
Defining the product strategy:
- Develops and implements the asset management approach for concrete pipe in potable & raw water, and industrial pipelines with internal subject matter experts
- Develops the global solution roadmap including business cases covering positioning, value proposition, volume, and price to serve as input into the product & capability development, and marketing
- Manages the execution of the multi-year roadmap for the global solutions including new product or service development, value improvements, product introductions, phase outs and product training
- Collaborate effectively with vertical marketing and business development teams to develop launch plans that will empower and enable sales (product launches, application areas, product brand thought leadership, asset management messaging)
- Supports the product development process by actively driving and participating in the tollgate process by developing the business case and presenting customer needs
- Understands and specifies market requirements, competitive position, and market trends for current and future products
- Conducts market research, voice of customer, customer visits and close collaboration with business development and vertical marketing
- Develop appealing and quantified value propositions which are validated through market research, voice of the customer, and other data inputs
- Framing the vertical offer in a collaborative way with key stakeholders (condition assessment engineering, analysis, business development and delivery) by packaging the products and services into a holistic solution
- Monitors competition with respect to market performance, product portfolio and product performance
Sales and Profitability:
- Understanding and providing data to support the sales forecast
- Partner with business development with initiatives to support sales, stretch orders and standard margin targets, and coordinating countermeasures where applicable to close gaps
- Provide strategic pricing intelligence across markets – owns process for updating and distributing International Price List (IPL).
- Owns the asset management messaging for the solution stack
Commercial Leadership:
- Participates in technical meetings, conferences, workshops, industry days, trade shows and association events
- Authoring and coordinating thought leadership activities (e.g. white papers) by developing content and/or presenting
- Joins and participates in industry panels, committees, and meetings
- Contributes to industry best practice guidelines and influences through thought leadership
- Working with Business Development and strategy, sets the message for shows and conferences, coordinates, and authors papers/presentations
- Responsible to ensure products are delivering on customer’s needs and exceeding expectations
Key Competencies :

Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Business Administration or Marketing or Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, or equivalent. MBA preferred
- Demonstrate excellent computer, communication, presentation, management, and analytical skills. Be able to resolve business issues. Be a self-starter with high motivation to achieve goals.
- Knowledge of concrete pipeline networks and concrete pipeline construction
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3-5 years previous experience in product management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated

- Standard weekly job hours: 40 hours
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $130,000 to $140,000 plus bonus. At Xylem, it is not typical for an individual to start at the top end of the range for the role however compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
