Here's where you come in
We are looking for an experienced insurance product manager to join our team! You will be launching and managing our insurance product, building processes, and bringing these to market. The ideal candidate is a team player who enjoys new challenges and working in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
This position is a hybrid work type and can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX; Austin, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Charlotte, NC; Colorado Springs, CO or Tampa, FL. Hybrid roles help employees gain the best of both worlds – collaborating in-person in the office and working from home when needed to achieve focused results.
This Product Manager will support the achievement of property & casualty insurance profit and growth targets in assigned state(s) or geographic region. The role will be responsible for assisting in development of strategic vision and tactical plans which profitably expand USAAs product line market share. Focuses on state-specific competitive and financial critical metrics to anticipate and react to potential trends. Identifies opportunities to make regional impacts across P&C, which drive best practices and innovation across the organization.
The Opportunity
What you'll do:
- Identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
- Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
- Follow written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
- Work with large data sets to develop analytical insights and analyzes state-specific P&L and marketing strategy and the impact of marketing investments.
- Answer financial and customer-related questions from key partners using multiple data sources including SAS, SQL, Tableau, R, etc.
- Collaborate with internal partners to develop insights to develop and execute on multi-year state strategy. Engages with external regulators to bring strategic actions to market.
- Analyze data with internal partners, such as pricing, UW, and claims, to identify growth opportunities, build a 360-degree view of the membership and present key findings.
- Build reports using data tools to monitor business performance and communicate results.
- Identify emerging themes, internal and external trends to improve performance and minimize risk.
- Assist with the evaluation of product performance measurements and competitor actions to help facilitate decision making at regional/ countrywide level.
- Partner with Government & Industry Relations, Attorney, and Compliance Advisor to maintain relationship with local regulatory agencies and industry organizations.
- Serve as a resource to team members by providing guidance and training on processes and procedures in support of product line initiatives.
What you have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Risk Management, Supply Chain, Statistics, or related field; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 6 years of relevant property and casualty product management experience analyzing data and developing recommendations or advanced degree in Business, Marketing, Risk Management, Supply Chain, Statistics, or related field with 4 years of related experience.
- Working experience in creating product briefings and presenting to executive leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively conducting product analysis & gain an in depth understanding of market dynamics including competitor underwriting initiatives and rate level analysis.
- Competent knowledge of applicable product related regulations, and risk and compliance requirements.

- Prior proven experience in product management, product development, or actuarial pricing in the Property & Casualty Insurance business
- Ability to work effectively across a range of levels from hands-on daily tasks to planning for growth and thinking about the bigger picture
- Ability to work with a high level of independence, are a collaborative teammate, while also consistently demonstrating leadership behaviors
- Detail oriented with experience using complex data to identify challenges and opportunities within assigned business areas
- Proficient Excel skills and/or experience with SQL or other programming
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner [optional]

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $95,250 - $182,030.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
