In this role, you will deliver innovative products and services at a rapid pace, collecting, routing, and scaling billions of events to our backend data systems. As such you will provide services and frameworks to developers as a secure, scalable and highly available platform by using a variety of technologies such as Java, AWS, Kubernetes and Docker. Our Platform team is a full stack development team that provides APIs and a to internal developers to deliver a highly available, enterprise wide platform with an open source technology stack including Java, AWS managed services to simplify onboarding, building and deploying applications and to enable a continuous integration and delivery platform for Ancestry developers. Our focus is to be developer centric and to enable an open platform that provides shared services such as secrets and config management, centralized site settings and authentication. What you will do...

    • Be a key player and mentor to a team of highly talented software engineers
    • Own technical aspects of software development for our
    • Perform design and development of APIs, services and frameworks
    • Develop deep understanding of tie-ins with other systems and platforms
    • Writes code and unit test, work on API specs, automation, and conduct code reviews and testing
    • Identify opportunities to adopt innovative technologies
    • Works closely with product owners on feature sets that impact platform, services and frameworks

Who you are...

    • You will have at least 7 years of experience in software development (specifically Java), with a minimum of 4 years working in the US
    • 5+ years of experience with design and implementation of distributed applications
    • 3+ years of Linux experience, ideally contributed to open source projects
    • 2+ years of experience with AWS APIs/ecosystem and cloud provisioning frameworks, preferably HashiCorp Terraform
    • Experience with container technologies such as docker, AWS ECS and fargate.
    • Experience with standardizing and automating CICD process
    • Bachelor's in CS required. Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience is preferred
