We’re seeking an Engineering Manager to join us and work on one of Hudl’s most innovative new products: Wimu ( https://wimu.es/ ), a wearable device that contains a number of sensors (accelerometers, gyroscopes) and is used by athletes in-game. This device is designed and built by the team.

The device used to have an x86 processor, which we’re moving to ARM, and a large part of the initial project work is porting an existing code base to an ARM architecture whilst providing some enhancements to the existing software and drivers . This is the start of many exciting iterations we have in mind for the device. Whilst a manager, this role is still very hands-on so you’ll still have plenty of opportunity to get your hands dirty!

You Are

• Experienced in embedded systems. Have years of experience in building, supporting, and extending hardware solutions powered by Linux, along with excellent knowledge of Embedded C++/C, Makefile/CMake and Cross Compilatio n .
• Experience working with hardware engineers. Have worked as or alongside hardware engineers. Our team has a mixture of electrical engineers and embedded system engineers. This role will be working with both embedded system engineers and hardware specialists.
• Multilingual. You are comfortable communicating in both English and Spanish.
• A coach. You care deeply about your team and are experienced in developing, mentoring, and serving them.
• Pragmatic . Understand the balancing act between crafting a robust, lasting solution and getting work done.
• Team-oriented . Understand that problem solving is a team effort and will help others in our Engineering Team learn and develop their skills.
• User-focused . Excited to have your work used by real people to solve real problems.
• Willing to learn . You have solid engineering skills but are always willing to dive into specific areas to gain the expertise needed to be successful in your role.

• Manage engineers. You will be responsible for coaching, developing, and serving engineers on your team.
• Own the problem. You will work in an autonomous squad that has the freedom and expertise to deliver the best solution .
• Deliver great user value. You will work on one of Hudl’s most innovative products that is changing the way coaches prepare for and stay ahead of the competition.
• Be an involved team member . You will actively participate in scrum ceremonies and proactively and thoughtfully create tickets for the team’s backlog.
