Payroll Specialist

Overview:

This Payroll Specialist will function as an integral part of the accounting team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for working within the framework of the company’s payroll function that services our U.S. and Canada operations and ensuring the company follow the various regulatory requirements related to payroll.

The impact you’ll make

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll questions
  • Validate New Hire Information
  • Manage incoming payroll tickets, escalate tickets to relevant stakeholders as necessary
  • Manage and maintain payroll records
  • Reviews timekeeping system for accuracy and completeness. Notify supervisor/employee for missing punches, incomplete hours, and missing approvals
  • Create import files for a bonus, commissions, and other income
  • Reconcile 401(k) Plan contributions and ensure contributions are submitted timely
  • Submit HSA funding files
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and irregularities and assist with audit requests
  • Manage all fringe benefits and garnishments
  • Verifies employee change status forms. Works with People Ops to resolve discrepancies
  • Process manual checks as needed (bonuses, finals checks)
  • Perform other duties and projects related to payroll and/or employee record management

What you’ve accomplished

  • Minimum 1 year’s experience in payroll processing
  • Knowledge of multi-state, multi-jurisdiction environments and tax labor laws
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Experience supporting and training employees and managers on timecard compliance, approval requirements, and documenting the process for internal controls.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion & good judgment
  • Ability to work independently
