We incorporate RAMS management throughout the entire lifecycle of product development - from a use case definition, RAMS planning over requirement clarification, design, software development, hardware development, test, validation, field test, pilot projects, product qualification, safety case to independent safety evaluations.
What your day-to-day will look like: - Establish system requirements concerning reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety using customer requirements and FRA guidelines
- Prepare and implement project safety plans in line with our standards and practices. Also, ensure that vital documents (hazard analyses, fault tree analyses, safety cases, etc.) are available for approvals
- Act as the intermediary between the project and approval authority; support project execution by coordinating requirements with the Project Manager, Systems Engineers, Independent Safety Assessors, Suppliers, and Customers
- Perform RAM and Safety Analyses, FMEA, and FTA to identify faults within the systems and operations
- Ensure process consistency throughout the SDLC within the scope of responsibility
- Independently manage the system safety and reliability elements of sophisticated, technical projects
Required Knowledge and Experience: - BSc. / MSc. In Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Sciences, or similar field
- 5-10 years of experience as a RAMS engineer or RAMS manager for complex and safety-critical Railroad, Nuclear Plant, Aerospace, and\or Automotive systems
- Firm understanding of ITC-PTC and the Rail Safety Improvement Act
- Knowledge and expertise of the Safety Assurance Concepts per IEEE-1483
- Validated on the job experience with the following techniques: FMECA, FTA, PHA, Hazard Logs
- Hands-on knowledge of CENELEC (EN50126, EN50128, and EN50129)
- Ability to guide safety-critical software development per EN50128
- Experience with Interface Hazard Analysis (EN50159)
- Experience with managing Safety Related Application conditions or Safety Application Rules
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience: - RAMS relevant standards (IEEE-1483, MIL-882, IEC-61508, MIL-217)
- RAMS experience with at least two segments {Office, Onboard, Wayside}
- Railroad operational experience {Freight preferred}
- Working in an international environment
- Customer interaction to include relationships with legal authorities
