At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time, others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

Hybrid-or-Remote: This position may be a hybrid or fully remote position, as decided by your manager. If designated as hybrid, you’ll divide your time between working remotely from your home and an office location, so you should live within commuting distance. If designated as remote, you’ll be working remotely from your home and may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or offsites. Your hiring manager can share more about this role’s hybrid or remote designation.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Alaska, Mississippi, North Dakota, or the Virgin Islands.

Strategic Initiative leaders may come from a specific background or domain, but their hunger to learn puts them on a different path. It’s someone who puts aside the normal career path to learn at an accelerated pace by working with executives achieving things that we may not already know how to do. By definition, Strategic Initiative leaders are dropped into new opportunities because they want to be stretched, pushed and are excited to do new and different things. The best management consultants bring us, from outside, the information we desperately need to drive results. Strategic Initiative leaders can also deliver deep insights, but they use those insights get the results while building new capabilities for the company. In other words, Strategic Initiative leaders seek to not just “report the weather”, but “change the weather”.

Strategic Initiative leaders may leverage a variety of tools and frameworks to get things done. A non-exhaustive set of examples includes engineering leadership, financial analysis, program management, labor force management, vendor management, change management, negotiations, people leaderhip, etc. And sometimes, Strategic Initiative leaders will develop new tools and frameworks, like the DIDD delivery model for integrations.

One of the primary tools a Strategic Initiative leader uses to get stuff done across the organization is influence. This influence may be exercised through vision, shoulder to shoulder work, or coaching and mentoring. These can be described as leading from the front (vision), leading from the side (shoulder), or leading from behind (coaching)

Strategic Initiative leaders play whatever role is required on a Strategic Initiative to get things done. Sometimes this is the program governance leader; sometimes a track leader; sometimes a subject matter expert; and sometimes we plug holes.

The Strategic Initiative leader role is not just an executive role but is available for people with experience to share and lots of hunger to learn.

Your experience should include...

  • 12+ years of work experience in tech companies, and 6+ years of demonstrated experience in successfully delivering companywide initiatives.
  • 5+ years of experience leading, coaching and developing team members
  • Strong business aptitude – be comfortable defining company integration strategy, identifying and defining business opportunities, and crafting and executing delivery plans.
  • Strong engineering aptitude – be effective at using your technical depth and the voice of the customer to partner with and earn trust of a world-class Engineering organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent practical experience.
