SNOWMAKER - SNOWFLAKE SALES ENGINEERING ACADEMY

Snowflake’s ‘Snowmaker’ program provides an opportunity for Sales Engineering careers for individuals who have the interest and the aptitude but lack the credentials.

It is a five-month technical and soft skills training academy for individuals interested in a technical pre-sales career path. The program is designed to attract motivated, technically-inclined candidates who today may not meet the traditional requirements of the sales engineering role. With this program, we support and develop untapped talent, and introduce new and diverse candidates to Snowflake. During the five-month training period, candidates will receive instructor-led training, job shadowing, and mentoring from sales and pre-sales peers and leaders. Upon successful completion, candidates will be assigned to a Sales Engineering team.

At Snowflake, we have high regard for our sales engineers. Snowflake is all about the technical win. We cannot win commercially without technical success.

WHAT IS A SALES ENGINEER?

A Sales Engineer, or SE, is a person who sees what others believe to be impossible, solves problems others don’t know they have, and shows an insatiable sense of curiosity to learn and improve. Our Enterprise Snowmaker program offers future sales engineers the opportunity to break into the data management world. This full time five-month program offers comprehensive technical and sales skills training through a combination of remote learning and classroom sessions, shadowing and mentorship. Upon successful completion of the program, you will join our Enterprise Sales Engineering organization.

Our program begins mid February 2023.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL GET TO:

  • Build trusted relationships with Snowflake internal resources, external partners, and client account teams to qualify deals, identify business value, and provide technical guidance in order to set proper expectations which ensure customer satisfaction
  • Leverage knowledge of a domain or industry to align Snowflake’s value to the customers’ business and technical problems
  • Immerse yourself in the ever-evolving technological landscape while maintaining a deep understanding of competitive and complementary technologies and vendors and how to position Snowflake in relation to them
  • Conduct discovery meetings to collect, analyze, clarify, and document business requirements during the sales cycle to support the implementation team and produce a detailed solution proposal
  • Gradually move towards working hands-on with prospects and customers to deliver standard, customized and/or strategic solution demonstrations, whiteboarding, presentations, and best practices that showcase functional capabilities, competitive advantages, and business benefits of Snowflake solutions throughout the sales cycle, from demo to proof of concept to design and implementation
  • Guide customers in digital transformation and cloud adoption, understanding where Snowflake integrates with holistic architecture and strategy
  • Provide ongoing, post-sales, technical guidance to the customer’s technical team to drive customer utilization of Snowflake and digital transformation success
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to continuously improve Snowflake’s products and marketing

ON DAY ONE WE WILL EXPECT YOU TO:

  • Have 2+ years of work experience with skills that can be applied to a Sales Engineering role for a SaaS company
  • Possess problem solving, organizational, decision making and presentation skills
  • Show an ability to work in an independent, collaborative and fast paced environment
  • Have a strong desire to pursue a career in Sales Engineering
  • Excellent language skills in German and English
