Our teams within the Experience Mission are responsible for all of Spotify’s consumer experiences across our mobile apps as well as platforms like desktop, web, TVs, smart-speakers, cars, wearables, and partner application integrations to make Spotify available wherever our users are. Within Experience Mission, we have openings in The PlayX organization who owns a significant part of the core Spotify experience: making users feel like all the content in the world is in their pocket from encoding, through delivery and download, on to orchestrating the intentions of creators, curators, and listeners into millions of audio/video experiences every day. As an engineering manager at Spotify your primary responsibility is to the people you support: ensuring that they are growing as engineers, doing valuable work and generally having a great time at Spotify. As a lead for strong engineers in our software development department, technical leadership and a proven background in software development is a must, so that you’re able to challenge and grow your team members. You will influence the culture, facilitate technical delivery and work with your team on strategy and execution, all with close collaboration with other leaders in the organization. **We have distributed teams around all if locations in Europe. Therefore you can be located in any of those. In case you need relocation we can also offer that. **Please submit your application in english.

What you'll do:

• You will build and lead a team of engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback and hands-on career development.
• Support timely delivery of technical solutions to address business needs.
• Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices and help develop and promote excellent engineering as well as organizational practices.
• Find ways to spread learning and technical knowledge across the organization, leveling up your engineering practices and mentoring your squad.
• Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with our Spotify values.
• Be an active part of the leadership group to improve our teams and ways of working

Who you are:

• You love developing and growing people and have a proven track record in leading, managing, coaching and mentoring software developers towards delivering timely, high quality software.
• Ensure healthy delivery of world-class products by working closely with the team, Product Managers and partners.
• Passionate about software engineering craftsmanship and love to have an impact on large-scale tech problems as well as transformational leadership and bottom-up culture!
• Solid experience working in an agile development environment and encouraging the best engineering practices.
• Background or experience in media streaming, transcoding, packaging, protection and delivery.
• Have a deep understanding in backend and/or data systems, system design, data structures, algorithms and understand how to apply them to craft pragmatic solutions.
• You are curious about keeping up with current best-practices in your areas of expertise.
• You have great communication skills and love sharing your knowledge with others and helping them grow.

• We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
• Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the EMEA region in which we have a work location and is within working hours.
• Working hours? We operate within the Central European and GMT time zones for collaboration and ask that all be located that time zone.
