At Marin, our Engineers work directly with our critical engineering teams, working closely with them to design, code, test, run, and evolve the systems that help people around the world get jobs. We work closely with software developers and system engineers to drive adoption of modern reliability practices like SLOs, error budget policies, actionable alerts, follow-the-sun on-call, incident retrospectives, chaos testing, and end-to-end ownership!

About The Team and Marin Engineering

As an AppOps Engineer, with SQL, we are searching for someone who brings fresh ideas, demonstrates a unique and informed viewpoint, and enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world solutions and positive user experiences at every interaction.

If you love keeping abreast of the latest industry trends and using them to help you innovate. You have strong leadership qualities, great judgment, clear communication skills, and a track record of delivering great products.

Responsibilities

• Maintain reliability and availability of Marin systems using SRE methodologies.
• Drive the resolution on production application incidents using the ITIL process.
• Develop tools and processes to enhance reliability of the Marin platform.
• Actively participate in wider global organization - develop and maintain effective relationships with engineering and customer success teams.
• Training and transitioning tasks to L1 teams.
• Proactively document and share knowledge with engineers in other teams.
• Provide technical leadership, design skills, engineering best practices, and mentoring capabilities to the team.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in Linux and Bash shell scripting.
• 1+ years of troubleshooting and debugging distributed applications.
• 2+ years of experience in SQL query writing.
• Ability to write, debug, and optimize code, and automate routine tasks in Linux, Bash or Python.
• Ability to analyze, operate and report on data using SQL across multiple data sources.
• Familiarity with ITIL/DEVOPS/SRE principals.
• Problem solving and thought leadership skills.
• Strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently.
• Team attitude with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• BS degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

Nice to have:

• 1+ years of experience in Python, Java, Javascript, Node.js or Scala.
• Monitoring tools like Prometheus, Nagios, Zabbix, Grafana
• Familiar with ElasticSearch and Kibana.
• Familiar with Ansible, Terraform, Nomad, Packer, K8s, Docker, AWS Cloud.
• Knowledge of software engineering processes and Agile methodologies.

We are also comfortable with 100% remote working (anywhere within the US!) or you can work some days in our San Fran or Austin office.
