Civis Analytics is seeking a Vice President, Professional Services to lead our consulting and software implementation teams. Specifically, this individual will oversee our Applied Data Science (ADS) practice - a multidisciplinary team of data science experts - and a team of data engineers and project leads to configure the Civis data science platform for our customers’ use cases. Success in this role will be measured by Civis’s ability to meet its growth goals while fulfilling the mission to its customers. As the VP, Professional Services, you will report directly to the CEO as part of our senior leadership team.

Responsibilities :

This position would oversee several critical functions in our business.

  • Civis platform implementation and data engineering services : We frequently configure our platform with data warehousing and analytics pipelines for high-value customers with specific use cases to improve adoption and customer success. These range from cross-channel donor databases in nonprofits to media mix databases in commercial marketing - and everything in between.
  • Applied data science and business intelligence: Our applied data science team provides reporting and advanced modeling pipelines to help our customers extract maximum intelligence from their growing stores of 1st-party, person-level data. We provide training services to transition these pipelines to customer teams over time.
  • Standardized analytics tooling: Civis has created significant comparative advantage by accumulating years of unique survey and modeled data about American consumer behaviors, opinions, and even government services adoption. This leader will continue the progress we’ve already made to standardize our data assets into repeatable, customer-facing products to serve unique industries.
  • Support implementation partners : We have a small group of implementation partners that we want to expand and nurture over time to support data engineering projects that are more efficiently served by outside implementation firms.
  • Marketing data unification and safe harbor strategy : Increasingly, Civis is providing data infrastructure for ‘safe harbor’ environments for media organizations that require robust structure and complete privacy management and access controls. This person will continue to help us develop the required infrastructure and data warehouse design within our platform for this growing business.


  • BA/BS degree, with 10+ years of successful experience in systems integration, software deployment in a SaaS business, and/or data science focused management consulting.
  • Demonstrated focus on organizational structure and professional development.
  • Leadership experience overseeing complex, multi-functional technical teams across departments.
  • Proven track record growing customer accounts in partnership with sales and account management teams.
  • Strong understanding of the marketing space and technologies, data privacy trends, and the role of 1st-party data in modern marketing.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of data engineering and data science principles, including ETL, machine learning, and reporting technologies.

All employees either must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, initiate vaccination before your start date, or file an exemption request prior to start date per company policy for review. Due to the uncertainty of COVID-19, all Civis offices are closed and employees are remote until further notice. This is being closely monitored as the situation evolves. Although it’s likely our offices will reopen, positions hired outside of Civis office locations will be remote roles.
