Your Role And Impact

This is a unique opportunity to help craft Turo’s first product design system. Your passion for design details and ability to think in systems will help increase the usability, polish and brand expression within our products, equip feature teams to move fast, and help our users get more from our products thanks to a cohesive visual language and familiar interactions across every product touchpoint. You’re a self-starter who is inspired by the knowledge that your contributions are helping your product design peers to do their best work.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, define, design, and maintain atomic-designed components—from structural layouts to micro-interactions—across web, iOS, and Android platforms
• Build clean, organized, and well documented components that promote reuse and informed by platform standards
• Craft, maintain, and update usage guidelines
• Contribute to and maintain a visual system, incorporating a systematic approach to typography, color, and other foundational elements
• Apply user-centered design mindset and best practices to systems projects
• Work with team lead to inform processes and introduce new tooling
• Keep the design system fresh and relevant while pushing for elegant solutions that allow the product design team to work more efficiently
• Work with research and cross-functional peers to analyze qualitative and quantitative data to drive a continual cycle of design system innovation and improvements
• Coordinate and own sections of the design system launch plans and backlog
• Expert familiarity with component-based design tools such as Sketch, Figma, FramerX, etc.
• Rapid prototyping and iteration, applied across designs, patterns, and processes

Experience

• 5+ years of experience designing products across web, iOS, and Android
• Experience crafting, implementing, and evolving a design system for digital products
• Experience coordinating a backlog of projects across cross-functional teams
• Experience maintaining and prioritizing a design systems contribution model
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
• 4-year college degree in Design or equivalent practical experience
