About this role

BlackRock offers access to a spectrum of alternative investments amounting to over US $315 billion of assets, including hedge funds, private equity, private credit, real estate and infrastructure, which are organized under BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI). The Alternative Solutions Group (ASG) within BAI currently manages approximately $10 billion of assets across opportunistic and diversified portfolios of alternative investments for institutional clients. The team is focused on bringing together all areas of the private markets to execute on the best outcome-oriented portfolio solution.

Alternative Solutions Product Strategy is responsible for connecting clients and prospects to BlackRock’s private markets investment process, and transparency to each portfolio management team’s autonomous views and underlying investment decisions. Critical to the success of the Product Strategy function is the maintenance of strong relationships with the sales force, portfolio managers, legal and compliance, and other internal groups who are responsible for managing and developing BlackRock’s client and consultant relationships. Product Strategists are typically the client facing member of the team while also driving product development, thought leadership, and the creation of marketing and portfolio collateral.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Coordinate closely with sales, operations and legal teams to develop new products, including the drafting of internal approval documents, term sheets and oversight of fund documents
  • Serving as a point of contact for internal stakeholders across sales, legal, operations and accounting for all client-related matters
  • Coordinating closely with Portfolio Managers, Research and Operations for all prospect- and client-related matters
  • Developing and maintaining marketing and sales collateral
  • Maintaining client relationships and client service related to all ASG funds and accounts, including all calls, meetings and long-term engagement plans
  • Continuing active dialogue with existing/prospective clients to ensure a high level of communication around investments and considering changes to ongoing portfolio management
  • Presenting ASG’s investment views to a wide range of internal and external audiences
  • Manage the sales process with help from dedicated project management team from first meeting through client onboarding
  • Set agendas for all client and prospect meetings and due diligence and oversee those meetings
  • Oversee client reporting
  • Remain on top of the competitive landscape, and understand ASG’s competitive positioning, pricing, strategy, unique selling proposition, etc.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 6-8+ years of investment experience or prior client service expertise
  • Superior ability to synthesize complex information and convey it in a clear, concise, engaging way.
  • Strong analytical skillset with high level of intellectual curiosity to drive differentiated insights.
  • Extremely strong verbal and written communication skills,
  • Experience and success in working with large, multi-strategy and multi-channel distribution platforms
  • Able to quickly build trust and credibility within a complex and driven organization.
  • Team-oriented. Enthusiasm and commitment to working in a friendly, entrepreneurial, team environment
  • Strong presentation as well as strong oral and written communication skills
  • Fiduciary mindset
  • Results driven with a high level of attention to detail
  • Experience with product development, including the drafting and review of business term sheets, fund legal documents is preferred
  • Strong academic credentials. Undergraduate degree is required; MBA and/or other advanced degree is helpful

Our hybrid work model
