As a highly configurable product, Teamcenter manages the lifecycles of a broad range of diverse products, including 3D designs, electronics, embedded software, and the bill of materials (BOM). Each customer configures our software to implement their unique business processes. This adaptability presents administrators with a wide range of configuration scenarios and an array of intersecting tasks. The power of Teamcenter is that it looks and behaves differently for every customer.As a Technical Editor for the Teamcenter suite of products, your role is to assist Information Developers (Technical Writers) to ensure that the product documentation we deliver to customers is technically accurate and grammatically correct. You work closely with the global Information Developer community to understand customer needs so that the documentation helps customers to achieve their specific business goals. You must be able to understand technical environments and solutions so that you can vet our technical content for accuracy and relevancy. In addition to Information Developers, our global customer service teams are invaluable resources to help you understand customer needs. Other responsibilities you have as a Technical Editor include developing and maintaining job aids for the Information Developer community, such as style guides and other reference material, as well as training sessions on content development best practices.Key Job Responsibilities
- Editing highly technical content
- Working with information developers to perform developmental edits
- Experimenting with the product and assisting information developers with example applications
- Helping information developers to organize topics into maps for user-friendly navigation of content
- Developing job aids for the information developer community
- Presenting training sessions and workshops to the information developer community
As a technical editor at Siemens, you will work for a central organization that provides authoring and publication tools, templates, and platforms, including a world-class CCMS with Oxygen Web Author. You will edit topics within an established DITA-based framework of content models and styles.Ideal Qualifications
- BS degree in a technical discipline (such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering), or a BA degree in Communications or English with technical experience, or commensurate experience
- PLM software industry knowledge, or experience working with PLM tools
- Expertise with developing DITA topics: concepts, tasks, reference, and troubleshooting
- Self-motivation and self-direction to research challenging technical questions
- Experience with developing technical content in a DITA framework
- Expertise with visual communication
- Familiarity with videos that convey technical information
- Familiarity with CCMS tools and workflows
- Effective interpersonal skills and communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
- Proven project management experience
