Senior Site Reliability Engineer - Data Infrastructure

Job Description

We seek challenging technical problems that address business critical needs for teams all over Spotify, and engage in large open-source code bases (Flyte, Luigi, Styx), while working in a friendly, collaborative, and safe environment. We are an amplifier for efficiency, quality, and innovation across Spotify. We are looking for SRE’s with interest in data infrastructure to join one of our core data infrastructure teams that specialize in systems for scheduling, orchestrating and deploying thousands of our distinct data pipelines that run ~ hundreds of thousands of tasks per day. We are in the process of launching Flyte as our new orchestration framework and with that comes lots of interesting challenges of integrating with the Spotify ecosystem and making it run successfully at our scale. By joining the Data Platform organization you’ll be a key contributor in making the systems that power our large scale data processing, insights, and machine learning efforts more reliable.

What You'll Do

• Be part of an infrastructure team dedicated to empower engineers and data scientists across Spotify to work with data.
• Increase developer productivity by building innovative tools that reduce maintenance overhead of working with data pipelines and help increase platform reliability.
• Help scale the new platform to reach targets that ensure the painless and seamless migration of data pipelines from all across the company to the new stack
• Ensure the reliability of our platform, abiding by an SLA, setting SLIs and SLOs that allow for a manageable error budget for teams using our platform
• Share your knowledge and experience to help other developers increase their knowledge in how to operate and scale a platform successfully

Who You Are

• You have industry-hardened experience in the development, administration, operation, and troubleshooting of sophisticated, large-scale systems running in the Cloud
• You own a deep understanding of containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker
• You are experienced using GCP services such as IAM, Networking components, GKE and Google Cloud Storage
• You focus on standardization and automation; always looking for ways to improve the developer experience and through standards and relentlessly automating operation tasks
• You think of open source first, understanding the value of building up a community and contributing back
• You appreciate agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and responsible experimentation

• We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
• Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the EMEA region in which we have a work location and is within working hours.
• Working hours? We operate within the Central European and GMT time zones for collaboration and ask that all be located in that time zone.
