Description:The Sikorsky Aerostructures Product Center is responsible for the manufacture, procurement and assembly of helicopter airframe structures. The Product Center has an immediate opening for an Operations Manager at our Stratford, CT, facility.
This position will report directly to the Aerostructure Stratford Operations Manager as well as matrix reporting to the Aerostructures Bridgeport Senior Operations Manager and is responsible for managing all aspects of Aerostructures daily interface with Stratford Assembly and Flight Operations (AFO). Primary responsibilities include coordinating technical issues, managing resources to resolve issues and coordinating multi-functional support associated with resolving time sensitive technical issues associated with Aerostructure airframe deliveries to AFO.
Detailed Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead, plan, coordinate and manage the closure of time sensitive support to AFO including Aerostructures issues that are discovered upon delivery of airframes to AFO as well as any AFO initiated issues requiring Aerostructures support to resolve
• Manage any Aerostructures Bridgeport airframe carryforward work as applicable
• Represent Aerostructures at daily AFO production meetings and daily coordination with Final Assembly Line production managers
• Daily coordination with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Management and Material Logistics as required to support daily issues resolution
• Provide feedback to center Continuous Improvement manager on repetitive issues as part of the turnback process
• Participate in daily and weekly center meetings, particularly related to Quality Escapes.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or manufacturing or equivalent work experience.
• Strong team building skills. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain engaged and productive working relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Must be a self-starter who is resourceful and takes initiative.
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interface with all levels of the organization, suppliers, customers, and governmental oversight organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally, in writing and in group sessions as a member or leader.
• Must be customer focused and a team player.
• Must be enthusiastic with a positive outlook and possess a “can-do” work ethic.
• Must demonstrated experience identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
• Must possess general aviation knowledge.
• Ability to effectively utilize common business computer software such as MS Office and PowerPoint.
Desired Skills:
• B.S. in engineering (mechanical, industrial) or operations management is preferred and or relevant Aerostructures major and sub-assembly experience assembly
• 10+ years of technical and management experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably with rotorcraft Aerostructures composite and metallic assembly or equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
• Rotorcraft and or Aerospace experience is preferred
