What is the opportunity?

Job Summary

As the Sr. Pension Delivery Advisor, reporting to the Senior Manager, Pensions and Benefits Delivery Canada, you will be responsible for providing expertise in the delivery of Pension programs within the Total Rewards Delivery team. This includes responsibility for current and/or changes to policies, regulatory requirements, administration processes and systems.

RBC is currently in a multi-year journey to Reimagine HR (RHR). One component of this transition is the move from SAP to WorkDay. This role will play an important role in this change process for the Pensions Delivery team.

Please note: This position will be hybrid, with 1-2 days per week onsite in our Mississauga location.

What will you do?

You will work in close partnership with another Sr. Pension Delivery Advisor to:

  • Support the administration of RBC’s various pension plans including: Auditing data for annual valuations of our pension plans, preparation of annual pension statements (active and inactive) and year end processes.
  • Responsible for conducting/coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for DB, DC, and savings plans as it pertains to system changes, service packs, and plan design changes. This oversight of UAT includes, creating test cases, establishing testers, completion of required testing and sign-off.
  • Guiding and developing less experienced associates, handling more complex calculations, inquiries and issues, and identifying strategies for continual improvement to pension delivery processes and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain strong alliances with Internal and External pension and benefits partners to assist them in developing appropriate solutions and ensure compliance with plan design and legislative changes.
  • Additionally, the successful candidate would be required to perform the following functions in this role: Marriage Breakdown SME; Pension Adjustments; Annual Information Return; Monitoring/Resolving administrative system problems/changes/year-end updates; Major data integrity issues; Review and verification of POA (Power of Attorneys) for Pension & Benefits.
  • Role may also provide support for Benefits related system changes and project work, including Annual Enrolment Project (AEP) and Quebec Taxable Benefits, ensuring priorities are adhered to.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-haves:

  • Expertise in Pension/Benefits plan administration and related legislation/plan provisions including the Pension/Benefits Standards Act (Federal), and various Provincial & International Acts.
  • Knowledge of the family law act, federal statuses such as CPP/QPP and the Income Tax Act.
  • Solid experience with HRIS and P&B Administration systems
  • CEBS/PPAC designation (or willingness to complete within 12-24 months) and/or over 5 years of pension administration experience
  • Project and task management skills, analytical thinker, strong PC skills (Microsoft Excel, Word)
  • Ability to work in periods of ambiguity and pivot as needed to juggle multiple priorities
  • A demonstrated ability to focus on improving the employee experience and make recommendations to change processes with an eye for efficiencies

Nice-to-haves:

  • Knowledge of mathematical methods and principles/accounting procedures
  • Operations management skills
  • Experience with SAP and/or WorkDay would be an asset
  • Bilingual – French/English
