Job Description Summary: PayPal's Commerce Services Engineering team in San Jose is looking for a
talented full-stack engineer to work on the next generation of the Merchant
experience and servicing platform. At PayPal, we develop massively scalable,

Job Description:
Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end execution of Commerce Services Engineering initiatives.
• Architect, Design and Develop software for distributed systems with high

performance, scalability, and availability requirements.

• Partner closely with design & product to craft great product experiences.
• Participate in the full development life cycle, including design, coding, testing, and production release.
• Create web applications following best practices of accessibility,

internationalization, and TDD.

• Be a crafts(wo)man and encourage code craftsmanship across the team.
• Deliver code in an agile team environment and drive innovation through rapid

prototyping and iterative development.

• A passion for technology and for developing robust, scalable, state-of-the-art

software systems.

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers within the team.
• Lead code reviews to drive the team to the highest standards for Node.js apps &

web apps.

• Define and devise processes, tools, and methodologies to achieve excellence in

software development, testing, and deployment.
Identify areas of technical improvement and make detailed business cases for
improvements or new areas of opportunities.
Required Skills

• 5+ years (7+ years preferred) production JavaScript application design,

development, and testing experience.

• 5+ years (7+ years preferred) experience with web application development

including Node.js applications on top of RESTful/GraphQL APIs.

• 5+ years of solid knowledge of popular JS frameworks and libraries (React &

Redux (preferred), Backbone, Underscore, etc.).

• Experience with web frontend technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, Webpack,

LESS, Bootstrap, Dust.

• Strong attention to detail, desire to learn, experiment, and share knowledge

with others

• Real-world experience with cross-browser, cross-platform, and design constraints

on the web.

• Highly effective at working in cross-functional groups and getting results in

matrix organizations with good time management skills.

• Ability to work on different applications with quick context switching and being

able to debug complicated applications with relative ease.
Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Other Related 4yr Technical Degree
