The Role We’re looking for a Senior Technical Accountant to join our growing Accounting and Finance team. This role will be critical to supporting our growth and will have a significant impact on our company, with the opportunity to work on multiple technical accounting projects, research to solve ambiguous problems and implement novel accounting policies and procedures. The ideal candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment, be driven to research by curiosity, work cross-functionally, and be adaptable to changing responsibilities and priorities. This position will report to the Accounting Manager.

What You’ll Do

    • Research and document analysis of technical accounting topics, adoption of new accounting pronouncements, and areas of judgment
    • Analyze accounting considerations and implications for significant or new transactions, ensuring compliance with US GAAP
    • Manage accounting reconciliations and issues on various types of complex accounts
    • Support our external financial statement audits, including preparation of reconciliations, audit requests, and managing relationships with the external auditors
    • Participate in and lead special, ad-hoc projects related to accounting and finance preparation for public-company readiness
    • Prepare and review materials for internal and external reporting on a monthly and ad-hoc basis
    • Establish and maintain a library of key accounting policies and processes consistent with industry practices and US GAAP standards
    • Provide support for company-wide efforts and departmental initiatives to build or improve processes, collaborate cross-functionally, and play a key role in the team’s ability to scale
    • Coach and develop junior team members through their daily responsibilities

What You Bring

    • Significant experience in accounting research, writing position papers and preparing disclosures and footnotes on technical accounting topics in accordance with US GAAP
    • Experience from a public accounting firm, Big 4, or a middle-market accounting firm
    • CPA and comprehensive accounting experience, preferred
    • A natural curiosity & growth mindset that is solution-oriented, researching and proposing new solutions to problems and processes, while providing management with information key to the decision-making process
    • Experience in working with an ERP system (Netsuite), including successfully enhancing and streamlining processes
    • Experience in utilizing emerging software tools to improve financial operations
    • Experience proactively identifying and leading new project initiatives
    • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel and presentation skills
    • Comfortability in a fast-paced, start-up environment

*For cash compensation, we set our estimate ranges for all roles based on function and level using San Francisco rates, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies.
