Job Description
Position: Benefits Specialist, Leave of Absence
Reports to: Director, North America Benefits.
Location: Atlanta, GA
You are responsible for the administration and coordination of the Disability/Leave of Absence programs. You work closely with our third-party Disability/Absence Management administrator and internal stakeholders to develop and maintain efficient LOA processes. You serve as an expert resource for employees and HR partners during leave events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide knowledgeable and compassionate guidance to employees who have questions about the disability/leave process and benefits.
- Act as primary liaison with outsourced Disability/Absence Management vendor.
- Become an expert in the third-party Absence Management system and our internal HR & Payroll system to support claims research, reporting and training.
- Prepare and analyze weekly leave-related reports and process disability benefit payment files for and from HR & Payroll systems for internal partners.
- Facilitate use of paid time off and state leave benefit coordination during leave of absence.
- Collaborate with managers, HR business partners, employees, and internal partners to ensure that all aspects of the leave process are handled in an accurate, timely and organizationally consistent manner.
- Monitor recurring tasks and identify issues for escalations with other internal groups such as payroll, HRIS, workers comp and legal department.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA and state and local laws.
- Collaborate with cross functional peers to identify process gaps, establish best practices, challenge the status quo, drive consistency, and deliver operational excellence.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS degree in Human Resources, related field, or equivalent benefits experience. CEBS or CLMS certification a plus.
- 2-3 years of leave of absence administration experience.
- Experience working with outsourced Disability/Absence Management vendor preferred.
- Good investigative and analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of SAP or related HRIS.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
