About this role

Reporting directly to BlackRock’s Head of Multimedia Solutions for Americas, and based out of 50 Hudson Yards office, the AV Operations Manager will be responsible for internal video and collaboration tools and the employee experience, including user education and communications and quality control and analytics. Enhance the operational procedure, systems, platforms, management, business processes, enhanced management reporting, and look for opportunities to minimize risk and drive innovation. Familiar with a variety of AV platforms, practices, and procedures. Rely on extensive operational management experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and key performance indicators. Perform a variety of tasks. Lead and direct the work of others.

The role will be based in our new head office, 50 Hudson Yards NYC, but there will be significant global impact to the position as the candidate interacts with other offices in different regions. There will be a transition period as we move from our existing sites to the new head office, in the fall of 2022, where the AV Operations Manager will become vital to our success. Key to the new office is the ability to produce events from multiple locations and spaces including the webcast and video studio, auditorium, training locations and more, so the Operations Manager will be expected to work seamlessly with the webcast, video, and the events team as one service under Multimedia Solutions.

Key Responsibilities and Daily Functions:

  • Review schedule for any VIP conferences
  • Review daily AV schedule and provide both remote and onsite room support
  • Provide first line break-fix support for all AV hardware
  • Ensure scheduled conferences are connecting without any issues on time
  • Responsible for overall administrative works such as responding to AV support hotline calls and emails
  • Review and send reports of automatically generated tickets within TMS and other VC related infrastructure
  • Daily proactive room checks
  • Opening and closing tickets related to AV equipment issues
  • Review, respond and handle support tickets received into the AV queue (Blackrock’s incident management tool)
  • Setup and provide in-room support for events
  • Run all AV events, including pre-event testing of audio, wireless microphone battery levels, VC image
  • Primary contact for event coordination
  • Liaising with clients for large events to understand client’s requirements
  • Attend pre-production meetings required for any scheduled special events
  • Primary Support to Operate in room systems for Global Production Events
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours emergency support (subject to Ad Hoc/Out of Hours Fees.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Excellent communication, project management, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work across cross-functional teams.
  • Proven managerial experience working in a world class global organization
  • Clear thinker, curious about finance and how it affects global markets
  • AV support technician with more than 2 years support experience
  • All of the skills of a Level 2 Technician
  • Excellent communications skills and process & procedure oriented
  • Experience within a customer-facing role, with excellent customer and executive management skills
  • Working knowledge of Cisco AV technologies, including Cisco Video Conferencing, Cisco Jabber, Cisco WebEx meetings, Cisco Webex events, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Webcasting technologies
  • Industry standard certification (Cisco, InfoComm, Crestron, Extron, Polycom, etc.)
  • Liaise with internal, external clients, vendors, venue account managers and project managers to successfully deliver events
  • Responsible for the efficient set up of equipment for live shows and conferences meeting deadlines
  • Accurate assessment and recommendation of AV equipment for each event
  • Working knowledge of Lighting and Acoustic skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent writing and analytical abilities
  • Highly organized, detail-orientated and multitasking skills
  • Strong executive presence; at ease guiding senior members of the firm through the production process
  • High energy, sense of urgency, decisiveness, and ability to work in fast-paced, innovative environment
  • Able to operate successfully in a large and complex global corporation while possessing an entrepreneurial spirit and mindset to make things happen
  • Working with Head of Multimedia Solutions to work with clients and delivering communications to them
  • Extensive experience with Cisco AV technologies and all other AV technologies deployed by Blackrock extensive experience with Cisco and Codian Infrastructure (Codian MCU, Codian ISDN GW, Cisco VCS-c,-e, Cisco TMS)
  • Extensive experience in Leadership roles in high performance teams
  • Extensive experience in organizing and deploying technical teams given multiple priorities
  • Extensive Metrics, data gathering and analysis
  • Effectively lead by example
  • Experience working under multiple management teams to deliver projects and goals
  • Industry standard certification (Cisco, InfoComm, Crestron, Extron, Polycom)
