Job Summary

Notion is looking for a UX/Product Designer with 2-6 years of experience to work closely with the Lead Product Designer in delivering an intuitive, exceptional, and best-in-class Notion app experience for both iOS and Android. What do you bring to the table? You believe that iterative, human-centered design is an integral part of the design process. You are the ultimate advocate for customers and have practical experience discovering and understanding their needs and pain points. You think at a high level about design strategy and vision—not just 'how it should look', but 'what we should build' and “why”. You dive into projects head-on with a data-driven, thoughtful, and creative mindset. You have a startup mentality—innovative, adaptable, and ready to jump in whenever and wherever needed.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Work closely with, take direction from, and report to Notion’s Lead Product Designer.
  • Solve broad, ambiguous problems by creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and designs that leverage best practices.
  • Validate design decisions by executing end-to-end usability studies and user research, iterating your designs quickly and thoughtfully based on feedback.
  • Deliver design solutions for a variety of platforms, understanding the intricacies and limitations across operating systems.
  • Represent Notion users and Notion’s design team within planning sessions, retrospectives, and other ceremonies as a part of a balanced, high-functioning product team working in an Agile framework.
  • Work with Notion’s Lead Product Designer to redefine the Design team’s process and playbook, including continuous discovery efforts and design system management and iteration.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of hands-on experience as a UX/Product Designer, building and shipping web and mobile apps/features.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your process and work and demonstrating user-centered design methods and principles, including quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Experience creating user flows, wireframes, high fidelity mockups, and prototypes using design and prototyping tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and InVision.
  • Strong communication skills—can clearly articulate the “why” behind your design decisions to your peers and cross-functional teams; comfortable giving and receiving feedback.
  • Strong collaboration skills—comfortable and excited about building relationships with not only Notion customers, but also the customer success, marketing, engineering, project management, and quality assurance teams.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and execute work in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.

Employees at all levels are expected to:

  • Understand our Operating Principles; make them the guidelines for how you do your job.
  • Own the customer experience - think and act in ways that put our customers first, give them seamless digital options at every touchpoint, and make them promoters of our products and services.
  • Know your stuff - be enthusiastic learners, users and advocates of our game-changing technology, products and services, especially our digital tools and experiences.
  • Win as a team - make big things happen by working together and being open to new ideas.
  • Be an active part of the Net Promoter System - a way of working that brings more employee and customer feedback into the company - by joining huddles, making call backs and helping us elevate opportunities to do better for our customers.
  • Drive results and growth.
  • Respect and promote inclusion & diversity.
  • Do what's right for each other, our customers, investors and our communities.
