About the Team: The Quizlet Public Relations team is responsible for driving internal and external communications in service of the Quizlet Brand. This team works closely with our marketing, product and executive teams to drive awareness of our brand and mission: To make students unstoppable by helping them practice and master what they are learning. The team accomplishes this goal through creative storytelling, thought leadership, and communications for our business, consumer and investor communities. About the Role: As our International Communications Manager, you will be responsible for helping expand awareness of Quizlet and the benefits it has for students and teachers in the UK and Germany to start. Based out of London where Quizlet currently has a small but growing team, you will work with our agency partners based in the UK and Germany to develop and execute on compelling and creative strategies, build relationships with key media and influencers and help drive awareness of how students can leverage Quizlet to practice and master whatever they’re learning.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver against the communications strategy for International markets including the UK and DE (with others to follow)
- Create and execute brand-focused PR campaigns in partnership with Quizlet’s international, brand, product and growth marketing teams
- Provide real-time support and guidance for Quizlet’s regional PR agencies
- Build and maintain long term relationships with local media, generating stories, developing pitches and securing coverage that helps further awareness of Quizlet
- Build a sophisticated speaking and awards programme for Quizlet in the UK
- Create excitement around the Quizlet brand through innovative programmes and partnerships connecting Quizlet to students and culture
- Keep your finger on the pulse of news and trends related to education and Gen Z in key markets, share relevant findings or immediate opportunities with extended comms and marketing team and leadership
- Develop press releases, blog posts, messaging and FAQs, create quarterly metrics reports, train spokespeople and support local office communications as needed
- This role will report directly into the head of communications who is based in the U.S.
- This individual needs to be self-motivated and comfortable operating with some level of autonomy
- Staff and/or manage sponsored events, promotional activations and/or speaking engagements as needed
What you bring to the table:
- 5+ years of experience in communications or public relations including agency and/or in-house
- You are a self-motivated individual with the ability to work collaboratively and/or independently as needed
- A love for media relations and a proven record of building relationships within the consumer and business press
- Team player with great people skills
- An ability to connect the dots across teams, agencies and regions
- A passion for education and learning
- Experience in issues response and crisis management
- Experience working with U.S. based companies (across time-zones) is a bonus but is not required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
