This job contributes to REI’s success by maintaining all rental bikes, equipment and supplies. The Bike Shop Mechanic uses customer service skills and industry knowledge to assist guests in person and on the phone. The Bike Shop Mechanic is responsible for completion of daily tasks and monitoring all bike shop inventory. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.

• Completes daily prep list
• Cleans and maintains returned inventory
• Reports any issues and inventory needs to the Bike shop supervisor or manager
• Helps facilitate a positive customer experience, including fitting bikes
• Delivers bikes to rental customers/guests at offsite locations
• Maintains rental bikes at all “onsite” locations
• Facilitates day tour and multi-day tour guide needs (loading & unloading etc.)

Bring your passion and expertise

• 1-2 years bike shop mechanic experience
• 2+ years customer service experience
• 2+ years industry experience
• Product knowledge
• Basic computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) knowledge
• Driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals.
• Flexible in one's viewpoints and positions in order to support the direction taken by others at REI.
• Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.
