The mission of the Data Science team is to enhance Cvent’s products with AI and machine learning driven features, and to enable the company to make data-informed decisions at all levels. Cvent has a vast amount of data, and significant domain expertise, which we are using to design intelligent features that deliver value to our customers. You will be part of a fast-growing team, strongly committed to impact the company via industry-leading machine learning, data products and data analytics.
What you will be doing:
- Work with a talented team of data scientists, software engineers and product owners to identify possible applications for AI and machine learning.
- Understand the data collected by Cvent's major product lines.
- Perform machine learning research using both structured and unstructured data.
- Deliver machine learning models in a state that a software development team can take and integrate into client-facing software.
- Thoroughly document your work as well as results, to the extent that another data scientist can replicate them.
- Continuously learn about Cvent's various product lines and their business models.
- Progressively enhance your skills in machine learning, writing production-quality Python code, and communication.
What you will minimally need for this role:
- A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as a natural science, math, statistics or computer science.
- Al least 4 years of experience working as a data scientist in industry.
- In-depth familiarity with the Linux operating system and using a command-line interface.
- Conceptual and technical understanding of machine learning, including model training and evaluation.
- Demonstrable experience with formal Python coding, including object-oriented features.
- Proficiency with machine learning packages in Python.
- Experience with relational databases and query-writing in SQL.
- Knowledge of linear algebra and statistics.
- Skills in data exploration and interpretation.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
What you need for this position:
- A Bachelor's or a Master's degree in computer science or computer engineering.
- Ability to write production-quality Python code with testing coverage.
- Experience working on a cloud platform (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud), especially doing machine learning R&D on a cloud platform.
- Familiarity with a graph database technology such as AWS Neptune or Neo4j.
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including Git processes, code reviews, test-driven development and CI/CD.
- Experience with A/B testing.
- Skills in data visualization and dashboarding.
- Knowledge of how to interact with a REST API.
- Proven ability for proactive, independent work with some supervision.
