The Opportunity

The Senior Accountant is an important position on the Finance team that will ensure the financial integrity of our financial reporting process, prepare monthly financial reporting activities, drive process improvements and strengthen our internal control structure. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager.

Your day-to-day

• Perform calculations, posting of journal entries, analysis and reporting related to complex GAAP accounting transactions including loan accounting, asset-backed securitization, whole-loan sales, and valuations
• Develops, prepares and analyzes financial and operating data while performing a variety of complex accounting duties
• Assist with financial statement preparation and consolidation of financial statements, including analysis of financial results
• Collaborate with other team members and managers on continuous improvement of processes and controls
• Reconcile complex accounts, extensive research, advanced problem solving and resolution
• Assist with various accounting projects and report on performance
• Work with internal and external organizations and departments on project initiatives and various accounting matters
• Perform GAAP research and analysis and apply results to the Company’s operations and/or specific transactions
• Assist with establishment, documentation, and maintenance of company accounting policies and procedures
• Participate in interim internal and external year-end audit process

What you bring to the team

• 4+ years relevant Accounting experience in the Financial Industry. Experience with organizations providing consumer lending products is ideal
• A solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and specifically accounting for loans, securitization, and related financial instruments
• Ability to perform sophisticated technical research and analysis from the problem definition stage through facilitating the integration of any new processes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Extensive experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and internal/external audit process
• Bachelors in Accounting or Bachelors in Finance/Business/Management with an Accounting focus
• Public Accounting experience and CPA designation a plus
• Advanced Excel skills required (pivot tables, logic formulas, lookups, sum functions)
