Job Description:

Reporting to the Head of Global Learning Strategy, the Global Learning Solutions Program Manager will be a key enabler in operationalizing Takeda’s global learning strategy by supporting the learning strategy, creation and implementation of enterprise-wide learning solutions that advance Takeda’s goal of becoming a lifelong learning organization.

This role will be specifically located in Tokyo and will be instrumental in enabling a culture of lifelong learning within Japan in collaboration with the learning professionals and internal stakeholders that support Takeda’s business units and functions in Japan. The successful candidate will partner with key stakeholders in Japan to assess learning needs, manage learning design, and project manage all operational and implementation aspects of our global learning solutions, including managing vendors, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, and communications. He or she will ensure the implementation of innovative best in class global learning programs that enable our employees to thrive and reach their full potential.

What You’ll Do:

  • Execute the development and deployment of enterprise programs, including all operational aspects: managing vendors, overseeing the budget, ensuring stakeholder engagement, deploying the training solution, and measuring progress.
  • Build comprehensive plans to track and report on goals, progress, and program metrics for multiple, complex global learning solutions. Proactively identify roadblocks, mitigate risks, and continuously prioritize tasks across multiple projects and shifting priorities.
  • Work closely with senior business and market leaders to continuously understand their evolving needs, and identify opportunities to deliver via learning solutions
  • Demonstrate an evolving understanding of leading-edge learning and development techniques and practices, including learning delivery methods
  • Collaborate with critical internal partners (i.e., learning technology, metrics team, instructional designers) to enable alignment in new and existing programs. Make sure the end-user learning experience is seamless, consistent, and compliant with global standards
  • Align with key HR functions to ensure the learning strategy is aligned and embedded with performance management, executive development, DE+I, leadership development, etc.

Who You Are:

You’re a result-oriented and collaborative individual with the ability to navigate through ambiguity and the ability to constantly shift priorities to the most important task at hand while seeing the big picture.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in learning and development roles or similar roles with transferable skills, including program/project management experience at scale; at least 5 years in Japan specifically supporting a Japanese audience.
  • Fluent in Japanese
  • Has outstanding project management skills. Can manage the operational cadence of multiple complex global projects with concurrent deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple key stakeholders, including senior leaders, HR partners, embedded learning teams, external vendors, and partners.
  • Strong team orientation and ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people while also demonstrating great initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Has experience in defining and incorporating change management practices in the delivery and execution of complex global projects.
  • Has experience in tools, technologies, and innovative methods/approaches to deliver and scale learning solutions for a global population
  • Proactively identifies and mitigates risks to ensure deadlines are met. Can independently overcome roadblocks and resolve issues that might impede the execution of global learning solutions.
  • Highly attuned to cultural nuances, diversity, and inclusion. Comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to retain and convey information to multiple stakeholders in a concise, effective, and time-sensitive manner.
  • Must be both strategic and proactive – able to contribute to a high-level learning strategy while monitoring and ensuring results and execution.
