Description:Supervise approximately 15-25 manufacturing operators and accountable for all aspects of Quality, Schedule and Cost targets for multiple programs. Provide leadership, support, and daily direction to employees; motivate and foster teamwork to ensure quality and achieve business goals. The ability to motivate employees and hold them accountable is essential; must have exceptional people-skills and ability to take appropriate disciplinary steps in-line with company policies and procedures as necessary. Coordinate workflow, monitor schedule, and provide status reports to management. Interact effectively with other functional areas to support production goals for internal and external customers. Participate in and lead process improvement events; including supporting the Corrective Action Board. Prepare and conduct performance reviews. Work to solve process, tooling and quality issues. Conduct team communication sessions and training, including OJT, compliance and certification training. Drive initiatives that help achieve safety and environmental goals. Act as a role model for safe behavior and ensures all employees are held accountable to all policies and procedures.
Conducts research and development investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures. Improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures. Establishes welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post heating requirements. Evaluates new developments in welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes. Directs and coordinates technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards.
Lockheed Martin’s Archbald facility is a full-service Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) mission area that provides design, manufacturing, engineering, and field service and support to its domestic and international customers. The site supports two product lines: Precision Guided Systems (PGS) and Nuclear Systems. The PGS line of business designs and manufactures air-to-ground weapon and training systems for the US Military and international allied customers. It supports two primary sets of customers in our Nuclear Systems line of business. On the military side, it has provided safety-critical nuclear instrumentation and controls (I&C) systems for naval submarines and aircraft carriers for over 60 years; on the commercial side, it designs and manufactures I&C products for the commercial nuclear power industry.
Archbald is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania and is part of Lackawanna County in the Blue Ridge Mountain range. The entire region is about 100 miles from both New York City and Philadelphia. Basic Qualifications:
Appropriate degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education.
Experience using tools, machines, and systems typically used in a production/machining environment.
Possess a functional capability on standard computer software programs including SAP.
Able to read engineering drawings, blueprints and interpret/translate Manufacturing Instructions to employees.
Self-motivated with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong multi-tasking and problem solving skills.
Ability to motivate teams.
Demonstrated ability to give direction and follow up on action plans.
Must be capable of performing in a role of On-The-Job (OJT) task trainer/ certifier.
This facility requires special access and therefore all candidates must be a US Citizen.
Desired Skills:
Experience in supervising teams of 15-20 fabrication employees of multiple disciplines.
Experience in one or more of the following: Mil Spec painting, Welding, CNC Machining and Sheet Metal processes.
Lean/Six-Sigma Green Belt certification with demonstrated leadership of process improvements in the areas of 6S, Set Up Reduction and Cycle Time Reduction.
Performance Management Team leadership role.
Administration of and participation in periodic audits.
Working Knowledge of such programs as Hazardous Waste Management, ESH Standards/Practices, FOD Control, Security, Supply Chain Management, and Time/Labor Accounting.
Leading of periodic production and departmental meetings.
Coordination of maintenance needs of equipment.
Ability to evaluate manufacturing defects, determine root cause, and develop concrete corrective and preventative actions.
Experience with implementing and managing flow lines.
Technical understanding of manufacturing requirements in a Mil/DOD environment.
